Andrew Hendrix (Notre Dame signee; transfer to Miami of Ohio)

Dang, I just watched his film and I gotta say I was really impressed (I haven't paid much attention to Hendrix til today).

Pros. He has such a quick release, something JT always seems to be enamored with when comes to QBs. He also makes quick/good decisions which is another JT favorable attribute (although his highlight film is void of any mistakes I would imagine). He also throws fairly accurately on the run, which in my opinion shows really good athleticism. I would say he's above average in the mobility category. Playing at Moeller, his level of competition is top end.

Con. From the clips I saw, he mostly plays out of the shotgun.

I'm really glad we will know about Montana early on because imo, Hendrix should have an offer sent out immediately if Montana opts elsewhere. I think Hendrix is more impressive physically than Montana, but I just slightly favor Nick with the genetics and fundamentals.
I like the size of Hendrix better. But everything else is equal in my eyes.
Hope we don't spread to thin on 2 guys and get neither.

Would like to see an offer. I know Montana is a pretty good prospect but to think he'll be any more ready than the next guy by his second year is a big assumption. The film on ESPN showed a lot of long passes/lobs that would have been interceptions against college safeties. Hendrix may have a better arm and shows equal mobility.

Believe in Tressel. :wink2:

He takes more snaps under center than the clips show and the offense Moeller now runs is based on the 'Pistol' formation.

My thoughts after seeing him play Colerain in the playoffs last year:

He could be a much better pro-style QB than a Spread QB. His mobility is enhanced by the video. Colerain has D1 defensive talent all over the place and he rarely escaped pressure when Colerain brought it. BUT...that was because he really wasn't looking to run as much as he was trying to buy time to find a receiver down field. That's a quality I, personally, like.
The Moeller staff thinks enough of this kid that they actually give him a couple of reads. Moeller would have beaten Colerain last season had they had reliable receivers. The kid does deliver a fastball and, as result, it does tend to sail on him..but he was money that night but he had a ton of drops.

Overall, I'd like to see him get an offer because I believe he has a very high ceiling and, because he's still a bit under the radar, he'll work even harder to burst through that ceiling.

You have to wonder if the ship may have already sailed with Hendrix. Recently, OSU coaches were visiting a QB in Indiana. You have to wonder if perhaps the UT offer has damaged our chances of getting in on this one so late in the game (comparatively speaking).

Im sorry but I dont know why any kid would want to play for kiffin. That guy just screams NCAA violation. I wish Andrew well and if Montana decides elsewhere Id love for Andrew to come to OSU but man I just dont get it...IMO.

I fully understand.. Just interesting that the staff is looking elsewhere. It could be that they do not want to be caught in the position they were last year..

I agree with you and Id say that is exactly what the staff is doing.

He also has no problem cutting you if there are better players at the position. As long as Kiffin is there, I hope UT goes 0-12 ever year. I really hope Andrew doesn't go there.

It's hard for me believe the ship has sailed on Hendrix when he lives in Ohio, has expressed pretty high interest in Ohio State, and it's barely May. We should know within the next 3 months what's going on at QB.
