Andrew Hendrix (Notre Dame signee; transfer to Miami of Ohio)

One thing for sure. tOSU is looking at a number of QBs this year. I doubt they will wait until signing day or close to it before rolling out offers to other QBs. I doubt Nick gets to wait into December before making a choice one way or the other. At least I hope not!
So hopefully they are looking at Hendrix and the others very seriously.

Football Recruiting News

ANDREW HENDRIX, QB, 6-3, 220, 4.7, CINCINNATI (MOELLER), OHIO

"I have 14 or 15 offers." Hendrix said, "I haven't narrowed it down at all. I'm going to wait until the end of spring then I find the schools I like. I would like to narrow it down a little bit this summer after I go to their (schools) camps and commit before the football season. I want to how the coaches will coach me."

The Right Fit

"It's got to be a good match of academics and a situation where I can get a good degree. Some place where I can look back and say I played for the school. I would like to have an opportunity to play earlier sooner or later. Naturally no one wants to sit until you are a junior, also a mix of the coaches and the colleges itself. Everything has to be a good fit when you will be for four or five years." Hendrix added

Hendrix comments about some of the teams he is considering

"Nebraska is a big time school with a lot of tradition, if you play at Nebraska it's definitely an honor, a great place to play college football." Hendrix said

"I haven't visited Nebraska yet," says Hendrix, "I have interest in them I'm going to look into them hopefully before I narrow my decision. I get e-mail with their recruiting coach a couple times. I'm going to e-mail them a little bit more lately."

Hendrix Likes Virginia A Lot

"I like Virginia a lot," Hendrix said, "I went down there and visited before baseball started probably a month or two ago for a small junior day. There were 12 to 15 kids there and it was a really good time there (Virginia)"

"I like the facilities they are pretty nice at Virginia,? says Hendrix, "I liked the coaches down there I can relate to a lot of them. My recruiting coordinator is a great guy and my quarterbacks coach. I like Coach Al Groh too."

"Wisconsin has a lot of good things available, their academics, Big 10 conference; it's a big time football school. Talking with some people there it's a great place to go to college. Someplace I will definitely will consider." Hendrix said

Play Football In The Big 10 Area

"It doesn't matter to me at all. I do live in Big 10 country but it doesn't have any bearing rather I play in the ACC, SEC, and Big East. I like a lot of places that I've been talking to (schools). It's going to be a tough decision but I can be only at one place." Hendrix said

More Offers To Come

"I assume I will have more offers coming in when they see my tapes. Northwestern and Tennessee has been recruiting me pretty hard. Cincinnati being close is recruiting me hard and so is Indiana, and I like all those schools." Hendrix said

He looks very good in his highlights but I remember hearing he put up mediocre stats. I'm a little worried he might be another Schoenhoft. Am I off base?

Yea a little I guess. All players look good in highlights and stats dont mean much IMO. Also, I hate it when people compare recruits (an present players) to past players. For example:

Donnie Evege = Shaun Lane type player just because you dont hear his name as much....
Hendrix = Scoenhoft (based on stats?)
Jamaal Berry = Maurice Wells
etc......

All players are different.............

:) And you didnt really COMPARE the QB's. I know it was just a question. I just put my $.02 out there anyways!

Yeah, I'm not saying they're the same. I remember Schoenhoft had great physical ability and came from a great high school program but his stats were very mediocre. Andrew is also capable physically and comes from a good program but his stats are mediocre(from what I've read. Haven't seen them). That's where my concern is. If you can't put up good stats in high school, how are you going to in D-1A? There are other factors like a poor supporting cast so that's why I'm asking if I'm off base. I'd appreciate someone's opinion who's followed him closely.

What can some of you say about Hendrix that you have seen film/in person? Just from the film, it appears he has great size, strong pocket awareness, and a strong enough arm to go with good accuracy. He seems to be fundamentally sound too. What are his main weaknesses, because I didn't see any....he seems to be able to do everything pretty soundly, nothing really jumps off the tape as stellar but likewise with weaknesses, I don't see any.

you can also point out that plenty of QBs that have put up massive high school stats have not done much in D-1A either though

I know. Not really relevant to what I'm asking though.
