now i know most of you in here are way too cool for it, but i have to admit i did watch the last episode tonight. Im usually not much of a reality show guy, but i really liked that Bo Bice and thought he got so ripped off its not funny. He is probably the only singer in the history of that competition that id buy a cd from, and am anxious for his to come out.

anyone else out there wanna admit to have watched some of the show? any comments?

Just watching the local news here in Charlotte, NC and they showed a feature regarding a person who voted over 2,000 times for the eventual winner. It appears she did something akin to a broadcast fax message. The report stated that over a short period of time she sent over 12,000 calls to American Idol. Most of the calls were busy, however, 2,000 did get through. I wonder if that could have swayed the vote. If she did it I wonder if others thought of it too.

Question: Don't you have to pay for these calls? I don't watch so I do not really know.

Wingate,

I have heard tales where people vote hundreds of times for their "Idol." I think that if only a few people did this then it wouldn't affect the results too much. The problem is, there are literally thousands of people voting 50 times or more. Maybe next year Idol will come out with a rule that only one vote per phone number. The problem is, they would probably have a hard time checking that.

Are 1-866 numbers toll free?

i have watched bits and pieces in passing, and i knew for weeks that Bo wouldn't win. the majority of the people that vote are 12 year old girls, and they all love underwood (and so do old perverts  ). i did watch the final episode last night and Bo did a great job with skynyrd, Underwood looked lost singing with Rascal Flats (which is funny since she is a country girl). I think Bo will sell more records, and i really think that he will play a few shows with skynyrd, and i would pay to see it!

Also, if Bo would have won, it would have kind of tarnished his rock and roll appearance, rockers are cooler when they aren't the "America's favorite"

Though I was pulling for Bo, I think being runner-up will turn out better re: his first album and his career. The winner of AI has to put all that original, bland, bubble-gum pop crap on the album and have a single out of that in under two months. I'm happy Carrie is now going to be saddled with those horrible songs from the show's finale.

I'll be very disappointed if at least four songs from this season aren't on Bo's album. His covers of Whippin Post, For Love of Money, Vehicle, and his a cappella Within A Dream would all make his album worth buying ... er, downloading.

First of all, did you vote? If not, then that might help explain why he lost.

As for me, I was fine with either of them winning. That show had never had a country singer or a rocker win, so I think both were refreshing. I wasn't concerned whether they came in 1st or 2nd, since both will be getting record contracts and making a nice income for the forseeable future.

While I believe that Bo is more polished, I think that Carrie offers the most potential. She really appealed to a broader audience than the 12-16 year olds. She appealed more to me, becuase I listen to country music and I like cute blondes. My 5 year old liked her because she sang a Shania Twain song during one show, so I told my daughter I would try to vote for Carrie after the final show. I'm not sure that any of my calls made it through. I either got a busy message or complete silence. I tried during commercials between 9pm - 10pm, but I doubt any of them registered.

I make sure to watch the first episodes, where they are going city to city, because it's so much more fun to watch the "horrible" contestants.
When I first saw Carrie on that first show, I told my wife that right there is your winner - (at least she had my vote) I just figured that her combination of cuteness and talent, and the fact that Simon really liked her, would go a long way.
I didn't get to watch hardly any of it once they made it to Vegas, but I saw enough to think they came away with the best top three.

Sorry man, I 've been busy this morning getting ready for finals.

Anyone who has commented on this thread about who should have won should have their clitoris cut out.

What a bunch of whiny ass, vagina-waxing pansies all of you are. And you call yourself men, HUH, you're nothing but prison bitches in waiting.

Right out of the gate you could tell that Carrie was the front runner in the competition. Bo kind of came out of no where later on down the road. Carrie had the target audience that watched the show......10-17 year olds. Honestly I think she is a dime a dozen, singing in the same old recycled country format. She tried to sing different styles (cover of "Love is a battlefield"), but was tore up by the judges, because it sucked. She will ride the wave for a couple of years, but will fade when people discover that she is like every other country singer out there.....in the same mold as every other recording industry puppet.

Bo was the most talented person on the show. He sung every kind of song, and took many risks. He knew how to work the crowd, and will probably become the fan favorite down the road. Only problem was, he didn't have the sqeaky clean, bubble gum, top 40 image that most of America (not including me) goes for. He'll end up being more successful than Carrie in the long run because he is an artist, who can play a guitar.......not just a singer, who sings stiff as a board (Carrie).

I flipped over at one point last night during a commercial break from Lost (I watched the last hour of that show and it sucked) just in time to see them highlight some of the craziest people who auditioned. Included were the two guys who became friends and the one sang a song by David Hasslehoff. (I still believe the kids were mentally slow). Anyways, they brought David Hasslehoff out to sit next to the one kid and he loved it. I actually thought that was pretty nice as you could see how excited the kid was.

Yeah. Jimmy Jam from NCI was talking about those two guys this morning. He said theya re both veeeerrrrryyyyy ssssllllooooowwww. He actually commented on how sad it was that the show capitolized on those two kids. Its likely not their fault they are in that shape, and AI really just exploited them for a laugh last night.

As for the results. I really think Carrie was the chosen one from the top 12 on. She was the most marketable of them all. Besides:

As for the voting, USA Today, Gallup, and virtually every media outlet that ran a poll had Bo winning by close to 70%. So take that for what its worth...
