Allen Iverson (practice?)

Since when has Iverson ever looked to get his teammates involved? Why would he start now?

The problem is that 'Melo doesn't think he's a finisher -- he thinks he's a shooter, a slasher, etc.

Well, the fact that Iverson has averaged 7.5 assists a game over the last 3 years while being the dominant scorer shows he can share the ball. With another real scoring option (Carmelo) he will be able to get the ball to him and other guys and not have to carry the team.

Carmelo can also shoot and play his game, Iverson will just be the one getting him the ball and setting up him. It will also open them both up more.

Carmelo Anthony and Allen Iverson will not be able to work together without constantly bitching over who's the leading scorer and leader of the team. Putting two extremely negatively perceived attitudes and 30 ppg averages will not benefit the team. It's going to kill the team and George Karl's going to want to leave Denver at the end of the year if my crystal ball is correct.

This is going to be another Shaq vs Kobe situation. It wont be too long before this team blows up. Your crystal ball is correct, it just may not all happen this year.

I agree with you, bro. Carmelo Anthony's character has yet to be determined, but the way it is unfolding it's not looking promising. Allen Iverson's attitude is definitely not the best to develop under.

Carmelo and Iverson looked good tonight. Carmelo definitely needs to shake off the rust with his shooting, but the entire Nuggets team looks great right now, with Iverson and Anthony feeding each other points at will. I liked the overall team chemistry, especially with Smith, Nene, Blake, and especially Camby all playing very well.

That alley-oop play off of the blocked shot was sick.

Now if Kenyon could just get healthy. I know he hasn't been the same without Jason Kidd but maybe the addition of Iverson can reinvigorate his career.

I thought he was fighting with management, isn't still with the team, injured, or all of the above?

He had major knee surgery at the beginning of the year. Supposed to be out all year. Apparently he and George Karl "rekindled" their relationship over the summer. Who knows......

Denver may be a legit competitor in the west. I don't think they're quite in Dallas' or Phoenix's league yet, but they are worth watching.

Hrm... Time will tell, but I think if they can get everyone on the same page that they might be able to do some serious damage in the playoffs. There's a lot of time, and I saw how AI was when the Lakers played the 76ers in the finals a few years back.

Let's temper this just a little, wasn't this against Memphis, the worst team in the NBA? I'd like to see how they do against some other more elite Western foes. But a good first night anyhow.

Very true, but it was also the same Memphis team who beat Denver @Denver back in November, not to mention it was only Carmelo's first game in 36 days.

But yeah, Memphis isn't exactly a win to hang your hat on, but it was a fun first night to watch.

I'll admit I'm not a big NBA fan, but I've always like AI. During the Olympics prep, there were few players that were there from day one to the end, and AI was one of them. I just see him as a fiery competitor who simply wants to win, and the selfish label that he;s endured during his career is probably caused by the fact that he's had no one around him to make him anything but. He and Anthony could end up making some real nice music together in Denver.
