All Time Greatest Albums

All "All-Time Album" list that doesn't have Hotel California and Frampton Comes Alive at least in the top 50 is complete joke. Those albums dominated the airwaves for two years straight. From the the summer of '76 into early '78, you couldn't go 30 minutes without hearing something from one of those two albums. FCA was the greatest selling live album of all time.

This just in: The Beatles weren't that fucking revolutionary.

Congratulations. You just proved youself yourself to be the most clueless musical nimrod of all fucking time with that statement.

You really think The Beatles are responsible for five of the ten best albums ever recorded? Does it not seem odd that there's not a single modern rap album on that first list until no. 125, and it's the Beastie Boys? You've got your favorites, that's fine. And I'm not saying The Beatles aren't one of the most influential acts of all time. If you step out of Crackertown for a few minutes, though, you'll see that there's music out there that was made by black people other than Stevie Wonder and Jimi Hendrix that has had just as much of an impact on American society as Peter fucking Frampton.

The King hasn't made any of the top 50 lists? John Lennon loved him!

This sucks - I have to be away from the computer for a while, and I'm nowhere near through with this discussion. A few more tidbits for the road:

- actual record sales should be a very, very small factor in the ranking process

- total radio (or other) airplay should be a very, very small factor in the ranking process

These are supposed to be the 'greatest' albums, not the 'most loved by white people' albums.

I also get tired of seeing all those Beatles albums constantly at the top of all-time lists, and every frickin' Fourth of July classic rock/oldies countdown on the radio having 30 Beatles songs in the top 50, but there is no doubt that they are the single most influential music act of all time...ever...period.

As for Crackertown, nigga-wannabe, I've been listening to Motown since '64...Marvin Gaye, The Supremes, The Four Tops, The Spinners, The O'Jays. Plus Barry White. Don't even compare rap-shit with Motown.

That is true, but none of them were rappers...Chuck Berry, Little Richard, any number of mo-town artists from the Supremes to the Temptations. To think any rapper has had the kind of impact as the Beatles, the Stones or Elvis or hell, even Frampton is...well...not even close.

Nirvana shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as AIC or Soundgarden or even the Meat Puppets for that matter.

Agreed.

1. Pink Floyd - Dark Side
2. Led Zeppelin 4
3. Alice in Chains - Facelift
4. Soungarden - Badmotorfinger
5. Metallica - And justice for all

Rap blows. Amen.

My God i forgot one, probably forgot 10.......these are in no particular order I guess.

Black Sabbath - We sold our soul for rock n' roll

EXACTLY

I'd maybe even add another 'very' to that sentence.

These are supposed to be the 'greatest' albums, not the 'most loved by white people' albums.

It's most likely a "white people" station. I imagine if 88JAMZ had a top all time album list, you'd be hard pressed to find anything 'pale' on the list. Eminem doesn't count.

Maybe all lists should just be titled as " (insert name)'s favorite album list"

Every list offends someone. I'm one of the few people on the planet that does not get the Beatles thing. Of course, I don't get the rap thing either, but milliions of others get both.

No Temptations! I'm shocked that they aren't on your Motown list, they're my favorite Motown group by far.

Oh, and from this point foward this is no longer directed at Mili, but rather to all the people discussing rap.

I agree that rap now-a-days is almost entirely shit, but you have to give credit to some of the groundbreakers, Run DMC, Public Enemy, and Dr. Dre back in the day all had a lot of talent. After the early 90's rap definately went downhill I agree. The biggest problem with rap is that they don't have shit to say anymore (most of them, agree with him or not Kanye West definately has something to say haha), just telling a bunch of slutty bitches to shake their asses around over and over in all their songs is not music.

Back in the day rappers had something to say and before sampling was restricted their creativity in sampling was really great and I would definately call that musical talent. But anyways, I'm rambling now, how fun discussing this further...

WHAAAAAAAAAAAATTTT........

No 2 Pac All Eyez on Me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If someone thinks that 2 pac is not the greatest rapper of all time...I would like to know who is...Eminem could be tossed in the mix but doesn't have half the music out yet nor will he.....The next closest is Biggie....

2 Pac has a song for everything for whatever kind of mood your in.....Whether you just got dumped or got dumped by your girl, or smokin' some fools with your gat, or cheatin' on your girl with her bestfriend, or your in a good mood and wanting drink some henny and smoke some green and get laid, or your best friend just got murdered by some gang, or your mama got killed slangin' crack to feed her kids......You name it....2 pac has a rap for everything..... Even though alot of people don't like rap and absolutely despise him....Until you listen to every single one of his albums, you don't know shit....I know some of the shit he raps about is crazy, but the way he brings it is unparallel to anyone else......Just listen to his lyrics word for word and you sort of realize that everything he says is true.....Nobody is as deep as 2pac....

Don't even get me started because that list blows. I can't understand why The Black Album by Metallica isn't listed? It's not my favorite of theirs but nonetheless revolutionary. I'm not going to begin to comment

I totally agree....Metallica might have the best album of all time for any genre....Especially The Black Album......I too was looking for that one...Can't believe nobody else said it first.....

How about Bon Jovi - Slippery When Wet
