What the hell is 'Methodical Man'?

2nd: This is for vrbryant. The album is "Dr. Octagonecologyst" by Dr. Octagon. I wouldn't have said anything if you didn't fudge up the name of one of your all-time favorite albums. Other than that, great list.

Perhaps a bit off-topic, but probably not worthy of a new thread:

Honestly, how many of the artists/groups mentioned here are still going to be remembered in 100 years? My money is on less than five. And that includes sandgk's mention of Beethoven.

It seems that the term 'revolutionary' is being used a little more loosely these days. If you want revolutionary, check out Igor Stravinsky and Vaslav Nijinsky. After the Paris premiere of the ballet "The Rite of Spring" (music by Stravinsky, choreography by Nijinsky), the audience rioted. And yet, these two are considered among the best of the 20th Century in their respective fields. How many modern artists can claim the same?

[end rant]

A couple I haven't seen on here

Great Days: The John Prine Anthology(although greatest hits probably shouldn't count so I'll go with Souvenirs)

Warren Zevon - Excitable Boy

White Stripes - White Blood Cells

Hell all of Montreal rioted after James was torched during the Metallica/GNR concert.

Woodstock rioted after Limp Bizkit got on stage.

I do see your point though. However, I dont see how everybody will remember those names in 100 years, cause I have never heard of em now

whoa, whoa, whoa... are you actually saying that you think that beethoven will likely be forgotten by 100 years from now?

Certainly not! I'm saying that of the five artists (of those mentioned) that will still be remembered in 100 years, Beethoven is definitely one of them.

No way Beethoven is ever forgotten. Course unless metal (or whatever path it takes) is completely gone in 100 years, also no way anybody forgets black sabbath, metallica, GNR, the doors, floyd, zep, etc.....

I know certain artists will still be remembered in 100 years, but I think the impact they made will be less and less apparant as the years pass. In the 1920's, Scott Joplin and George Gershwin were a couple of the most famous names in popular music, but at this point, I would venture a guess that many people have never heard of them.

Right that's what I meant by saying "depending on what path music takes". Music changed so much between then and now........people are like, "oh god, how could anyone listen to that crap"

(Not everybody, but most people today. Damn kids anyway)
