If by shrunken heads, you mean growing heads. Barry Bonds knoggin' grew to the point were he had to go up 2 hat sizes according to "Juiced".

Right. I mean that when they go off the juice they explain the loss of forty pounds of muscle as "wanting more flexibility" or "more bat speed".

shit. My bad. I thought you had the growing head thing in reverse.

It had to be a little embarassing for those guys to go to the equipment manager and tell them they needed a bigger hat, b/c they had outgrown their old one.

 Yeah no shit.

Barry: "I'm gonna need an 8 &1/4 hat.

Equipment Mgr: "Are you planning on wearing it OVER your helmet?"

I guess my point is, random tests nabbed 104 players. While steroid use was rampant in the early part of the decade, I don't think it was more than 30% of the players. Some are suggesting just about everyone was using, and I don't think that is true.

I'd guess, at a max, 30%.

I'd still be pissed if I were a club that paid for A-Rod or any other steroid user, and in hindsight learned those stats were put up under false pretenses. Even if lots of players were doing it. A-Rod won a MVP in 2003, and put up monster stats....those numbers earned him the highest paying contract of all time. If he isn't using anymore, you're paying for a shell of that player. I'd be looking for ways to get some money back....

You do realize that until they restructured A-Fraud's contract last year, the Rangers were paying a hefty bit of his salary....

Again New York probably doesn't care. I seriously doubt he's on HGH by the way, he doesn't show the signs of HGH use.

I thought purple lipstick and waxed eyebrows were signs?? No?

What pisses me off is that Griffey should be remembered as the greatest player of his generation. Fuckin' cheaters.

I can't give enough rep to approve this statement.

+ fuckin 1.

+ fucking 3 with a hearty emphasis on the middle word.

JR and Kruk are the only ones I'd bet a testicle (pretty high stakes for Kruk) weren't using. And Greg Madox. I'm positive he was clean.

Also, say what you want about him beating on Zim but Pedro put up some HOF pitching stats during the juice era and he was most certainly never on anything.

He and JR should be remembered for their dominance in an otherwise tainted era imo.

Fuck Zim. He shouldn't have charged the fucking mound.

Yeah, they should be remembered as such...but most likely, they'll be a footnote in the paragraph about the "sterioid era". Fucking disgusting.

I agree 100%.

It just seems a lot of people get their panties bunched about Pedro when you try and compliment the guy. That particular incident seems to be a particular hot spot for Pedro haters.

Imo he did Zim a favor by just slinging him down. The head down bull rush at my opponent fighting style isn't the most effective.

Back in the day Griffey and A-Rod were my two favorite players when they were on the Mariners. I still haven't gotten over how Juniors career turned out. HE should have been the one breaking Hank's HR record! There was always a thought in the back of my head that Sammy and McGwire were cheating when they were trying to break Maris's record for a season. The Cardinals fans/my friends would do nothing but hate when I talked about Griffey(same thing with my Buckeyes)!

To this day I'm still an A-Rod fan. Does him using steroids surprise me? No, as someone mentioned above I believe far more people were using roids than the ones we know about.

I'm by no means saying Griffey used roids'. And by no means do I think every player was using roids'. I'd say anywhere from 15 - 30% of ball players have used in the peak of steroid use.

In the steroids era, I just don't see how you can 100% declare someone did or didn't use. As soon as Pettite admitted roid' use, I gave up on trying to peg players who did/didn't use.

Obviosuly the guy who comes in 20-30 lbs lighter is skeptical. But outside of that, if Andy Pettite is willing to use HGH, I don't put it past anyone.

It sucks for the clean players, and they can bitch to MLB for letting the problem exist. 104 players tested positive in 2003, and MLB still dragged their feet on a steroid policy and protected the names of the players who did test positive. It's amazing to me through all of the steroid in baseball talk, and trying to rid the sport of PED's, that A-Rod's name stayed under wraps for this long.

I think its funny that sports writers now try and determine if a player used/din't use. Or they declare this guy deserves in b/c he played clean and the right way. How the hell do they know??

I wish more of the "higher-ups" would say "We knew it was a big deal and purposely turned a blind eye to it."

It seems like these managers/owners/MLB execs are still going around in circles as if nothing happened. All they say is, "well, I wasn't aware of it personally, but apparently it was a big problem as we are finding out now." No shit?

No one is really taking accountability, in my opinion. I have no clue what the sport is supposed to do now. On one hand, I guess the whole history of baseball is tainted with scandals and cheating (call it the American way). On the other, this is real bad.

It shouldn't be hard to determine who had this information. Reports are they randomonly tested players in 2003, to determine if they needed a stricter drug policy.

104 players tested positive.

Who received that information, who did he report too, and how did they determine 104 players wasn't enough to warrant a stricter policy??

You'd have to assume Selig knew, which makes him look like an ass-hat for denying a widespread problem. I'd love to go back and listen to all of his interviews since baseball got dragged in front of Congress, just to listen to him lie, and interviewers asked if other big time players names would come out later.

Selig HAD TO HAVE KNOWN A-Rod tested positive.

Exactly. It all starts with Bud Selig. He didn't give a shit what the players were doing. In 1998, he was so excited that McGwire and Sosa were bringing fans back to the game after the strike in '94, he wouldn't dare rock the boat.

Nah, cranial growth to rival a small planet and an attitude problem are usually signs of HGH use

There are a few players I'm pretty sure aren't on the roids and a list of them that I'm certain WERE. Unfortunately the Aren't list is shorter than the WERE list.
