Albert Pujols takes out 2 Padres in mere minutes.

The arguments of "oh well, work risk factor" are poor.

So a policeman that gets shot... oh well

An airline stewrdess that dies in a plane crash.... oh well

Mike Utley getting paralyzed playing football... oh well

Mike Coolbaugh that is standing and coaching and is drilled in the head by a line drive that pulverized Coolbaugh's left vertebral artery, leaveing behind a family....oh well.

I guess it feels cool to show out and act heartless on a message board... but in reality it's not.

Difference between all those and Chris Young. Chris Young broke his nose, he didn't die.

Injury in sports happen, deal with it.

The only thing that could possibly be worse is actually losing the game. So protect the delicate egos of professional athletes, I move we ban keeping score and standings. We just give them all a participation medal at the end of the season.

If the pitcher didn't want to get hurt, he should have struck him out.

He got what he deserved for throwing a bad pitch to a good hitter.
Have either of you guys ever played baseball outside of a summer REC league?

You obviously know nothing about baseball.. go back to the police blog/bungals thread.

Yes I have
A line drive back up the middle is not something that anyone involved enjoys. If that ball is a little lower - it's a broken jaw and some missing teeth. If its a little higher - it could have easily killed him.

Of course it's a part of the game - just like Tyson Gentry's injury is a part of the game - but it's not something that we as fans or those who play the game enjoy.

I understand its a message board - and everyone here at somepoint or another makes tastless and funny comments and we all enjoy it - but for whatever reason you felt the need to post in this thread and contribute to it by being a dickhead to another BP member who happens to be a friend of the pitcher.. if you don't mind me asking - for what reason? Whats your deal?

You're goddamned right. Every adult picks thier carreer/occupation knowing full well the hazards involved. Now, when a teacher gets shot, that fucking sucks because getting shot doesn't come with the job. Although I don't want cops getting shot, boo fucking hoo. They knew what the job entitled when they signed up. That's why their family is taken care of after that happens. The guy that gets pinned against a rack by a forklift at Wal Mart doesn't get shit. Cry for him.

Actually my original comment was made before 'Bus, but it was deleted by someone. Then 'Bus wanted to attack me, but that is neither here nor there.

I know getting hit in the face with a baseball sucks. I've had it happen. But Some people here want to act as if this was some random act of violence, and we should all feel sorry for this guy, because he has a broken nose. I don't fell sorry for him at all, he is a professional baseball player, it is going to happen, no player will ever get through their career without an injury, some worse than others.

You think I'm being a dickhead that is your opinion, other have told me privatly they agreed with me.

Wrong. I made a comment expressing some concern for a friend of mine and his family. That's it. There was no comment from me one way or another about the nature of baseball or any other occupation.

Then a callous comment was made, which I thought was unnecessary. I responded, and then you and tibor ran with it, which, despite my knowing it was typical of you two, made me angry.

I'm not sure what drives some posters out here, and I understand its between you and the mods as to what gets posted versus what gets deleted, but I'm sure I could do without your thoughts on whether or not someone deserves (for lack of better words) to get hurt because he participates in one profession or another. I wouldn't wish a comebacker to the face on my enemies let alone my friends or friends of friends. I guess you see things differently.

What fantasy world do you live in? I don't see one post in here that says something along those lines..

The pitches was one of Bus' friends - and he expressed concern. The only other posts in here are the typical BP jokes - and you & tibor baiting.

Thats all I'm sayin' - you are baiting (or being a dickhead as I put it earlier)

You think I'm being a dickhead that is your opinion, other have told me privatly they agreed with me.
I don't think you'll find anyone who dosen't agree with the fact that its part of the game. I'll tell you publically I agree.

For the record - I don't think you are a dickhead for saying this guy makes a shit ton of money and a line drive back at him is part of his job. I think you are a drama queen.

.. I digest.

I wish a comebacker on Desmond Howard every night in my prayers before I go to bed.
