Bama wanted to hire the "hot name" instead of someone who was more of an up and comer from the south and could fit their culture better. They figured Deboer being a bigger name wouldn't have much of a recruiting and on field success drop off...

they were wrong. They hired a guy from south Dakota with his main coaching experience being in the west

Yeah, anyone who was hired after Saban was set up to fail. And even if they decide to can DeBoer now(I believe his buyout is $70mil :yow2:), I don't think a Gruden or Fisher would help much, ESPECIALLY Fisher! And it would show how the mighty have fallen to actually pursue the Vandy HC :slappy:
Saban set the bar too high to hire another "name" HC, but their fan base won't accept anyone without a "name". Welp :saban:
