Alabama Crimson Tide (official thread of Football, Fake Championships and Banjo)

There really isn't a "deserving" 4th team. I think Bama probably beats OSU 6 or 7 times out of 10, bit that's not how you pick a team (it's part of the consideration, but not THE consideration). I think based on resume alone OSU should be in, but I don't see them beating Clemson. Don't see Bama beating them either, but I'd put it at 30% chance for OSU and 40% for bama.

Last I checked Wisconsin was 12-0 and 4th ranked by the committee. Ohio State beat them today.

WTF did Alabama do today, besides watch the team who beat them by 12 points last week lose by 21 points this week?

I saw today's game (Ohio State won), and I'm all too aware of Iowa, but I still want to know what Alabama did today to move into the top 4.

What say you, @Gcashwell?

Ooooh! I know this one....I believe the answer is "not lose to Iowa by 31."

Which is just another way of saying "sat on our couches while Ohio State beat previously undefeated Wisconsin, and the team who thumped us by 12 points last week got whupped by 21 points this week."

The Auburn loss is probably more damaging to Alabama than the Ohio State win. Auburn is the one team that they played that is ranked above #23 in Massey's power ratings (other computers similar, https://www.masseyratings.com/cf/compare.htm).

Ohio State played six teams in Massey's top 25, losing to Oklahoma and Iowa, going 2-1 against the top 10, 2-0 against 11-20, and 1-0 against 21-23.

There is no comparison.

Alabama learned enough math to realize their last few YEARS of losses don’t add up to 31 points.

They also watched some tape to try to figure out how in the hell the big10 hasn’t scored in the playoffs in two years.

I really don't mind if the committee uses last year's loss to Clemson to keep Ohio State out. I know they aren't supposed to, but if I'm a voter, it'd be on my mind.
But it's unfair to lump Ohio State with Michigan State and their shutout loss in 2015. Michigan State has their own team, and is in no way connected to Ohio State, other than that they play each other every year.
Faulting Ohio State for Michigan State's shutout loss would be the same as faulting Alabama for Mercer ever getting shut out.

Which is what you guys did last year. Thanks for setting the precedent.
Slightly different - We beat the conference champs, yall didn't even play this years. Even if Barn had it wouldn't have been the same scenario.

Your AD is in the committee I think. You guys prob have a better chance of getting in that Bama. Who really wants two SEC teams in the playoff?
He has to pull a Jeff Sessions Russia investigation when OSU comes up - someone said last night its absolutely stupid because we will likely be in the hunt more often than not.
