Alabama Crimson Tide (official thread of Football, Fake Championships and Banjo)

Iowa picks up the win because the Bama players really didn't want to be there. (Excuse # 13 in the S-E-C book of excuses)

while the SEC excuses do get tedious, this is a very real thing

Ref: Almost every bowl Ohio State has ever played in the state of Tennessee

Now that I’m tracking DSA FBS wide again I’ll be sure to track this. One of the most reliable phenomena I found back in the original DSA era was the underperformance of teams that were disappointed with the bowl they were in. I called it Irritable Bowl Syndrome. They didn’t always lose, but they almost always underperformed.

Real IBS didn’t happen much to SEC teams, because many of their teams going to the Outback Bowl and the like were happy to be in any bowl, at least in that particular year.

The Irritable Bowl Syndrome HAS to be a featured article.

Amid a disappointing season for the Tide, 247Sports' Josh Pate said on the "Late Kick" podcast that he fully expects Saban to overhaul his coaching staff. That could involve moves regarding offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien and defensive coordinator Pete Golding, Pate said.

"I don't really recognize Alabama right now," Pate said. "I think a lot of the fan base feels the same way. Everybody who has observed the program over the years feels the same way. I think the head coach there feels the same way. You may not believe that. But unlike you, he can't just bail in the middle of the year. Unlike you, he can't run to the nearest message board and fire half his staff in the middle of the year. It's coming. Lot of changes are coming there. ... I don't expect either of their coordinators to be back next year."

I've read(and it makes a ton of sense), that more disruptive than NIL with this team, is the transfers. Players who were former 4 and 5 stars and were biding their time, then get passed over in an instant to the hot new transfer. And that's causing the major rift in the locker room, more than the NIL deals. And the coordinators along with Saban are having a hard time keeping it together. And also, those high ranked OL recruits that Bama won out haven't panned out as well...
