FOUR-STAR DEFENSIVE END ZION GRADY COMMITS TO OHIO STATE

Larry Johnson has done it again.

After a successful official visit this weekend, four-star Alabama 2025 defensive end Zion Grady pulled the trigger and committed to Ohio State on Monday.

Johnson offered Grady in February, shortly after the 6-foot-4, 235-pound product decommitted from Alabama following Nick Saban's retirement.

Grady took two visits to OSU, one in May and the other this weekend where he was sold on the Buckeyes' developmental plan for him and pulled the trigger. OSU faced fierce competition from Auburn, Florida State, Tennessee and Miami for Grady's commitment, but the Buckeyes won out in the end.

On both of those visits, Grady was joined by fellow Alabama resident Malik Autry, arguably OSU's top remaining interior defensive line target for the 2025 class. Autry, who is close friends with Grady, was always likely going to be a tougher pull from Alabama than his defensive end counterpart considering his Auburn commitment. But with Grady now in the fold and five-star Alabama cornerback Na'eem Offord already committed to the Buckeyes, the pursuit seems more manageable now, though it will still be difficult.

I put our odds at about 1%, but if we pull it off I'll be very excited.

Just sayin': Apparently the recruiting landscape in Alabama has significantly changed with Sabin's retirement. OK, what are the odds now of Ohio State pulling off the "Alabama recruiting hat trick", i.e. Zion Grady, Na'eem Offord, and Malik Autry? I'll say it is still pretty low; but I do believe that it could happen.

I am so happy you are 99% wrong. Lol

Keeping him will be 75% difficult.
Haha that is exactly how I would put it. I am a little suspect on this one actually making its way to closing, so I celebrate with sincere caution. If Sanchez and Offord stay the course (and their families), then we have a shot at keeping him. But if this actually sticks, then you know...

It would be a Sherman's March through Alabama if that happened. I agree it is possible, but years of 'Crootin following and the new NIL landscape have me on high caution. There are also other reasons that I have doubts that this commitment sticks though...trust me, I want him to land in Cbus. Zion is a serious talent. I just see a flip here before NLOID.
