I recently realised that there is something even more pathetic than that. Flew recently from Italy and it was an 530AM early morning..oh correct that..a late night flight because I had to get to the airport in the middle of the night when practically everyone is asleep, which mean no public transportation. And then seeing all the passengers chattering on their cell phones like there is no tomorrow...at 5 AM in the morning. I never never ever thought about it that the other side of the line must also be awake.. just what of urgent importance do they have to tell each other in those wee hours??

also big annoyance, cheap tiny sadistic airports that feel like prisons. There are dozens of examples in Europe, but to name one Venice-Treviso has those sadistic uncomfy metal cold benches with armrests and power points that didn't even work unless you happend to own a very specific plug with the right prongs. Every main european plug works in Italy, but they made it in such a way that you couldn't flip the lever unless you had a power supply with cords and not the box things. I mean, who does that for an international airport?? I guess the designer of that terminal really hated humanity.

last but not least, airports that are ridiculously far away from the city. It is not even worth flying anymore. Worst I have seen so far are most capitals in the Nordic countries, reykyavik, stockholm, oslo...you can take a 30 min special high speed bullet train from Stockholm Arlanda.. if you have like 530 crowns to spend (55 euro). Get this, most scandinavian capitals have multiple official airports bearing the name of the capital. Oslo has oslo-rygge, oslo-gardermoen and oslo-torp. Stockholm has stockholm-skavsta,stockholm-arlanda and stockholm-vasteras but they are all nearly 100 km away from the city. Why is that so necessary, because Lisbon airport is only a metro ride away within the borders of the city. The logic of some airport locations are completely out of line, for example Narvik and Harstad (Norway) share an airport which make the distance to both towns around 30km, you will also be depending on a one hour and 25 euro shuttle bus (ONE WAY). It was better to take a flight to Kiruna and then take the train to Narvik. Kiruna in arctic Sweden has it's own aiport which is relatively near town for scandinavian traditions with 7km and your only option besides walking is a 30 euro taxi van. Well, if you know Kiruna, then you have probably heard that it is a mining town and because of some damage:biggrin: under town they are trying to relocate the entire centre, oddly enough one or two kilometers towards the airport, thus shriking the distance between airport and town. Now I have heard that to good old scandinavian habits, the airport is way tooo close to town and they might put the airport somewhere else as well. Special note, if you are interested in going there, the plans have been scheduled for the year 2033 so this might take a while. Also the world famous ice hotel isn't even in Kiruna, or near Kiruna, 17km/11mi away in a village named Jukkasjarvi.

First post GPA. I hope you bring this level of detail to Buckeye discussions.

Freaking holiday travel.

Get to the airport two hours early today to get through security. Sit down at the bar with an hour before take off. Only after I paid my tab, and walk out of the bar do I get the text telling me telling me my flights been delayed 4 hours.

Airport is absolutely packed, lost my seat at the bar, and now I have three more hours to kill.

Ugh

Doing my best Jedi that someone in the bar will just have to get up and leave, whether they want to or not.

Have a safe trip home.

'Worst passenger ever' jailed after punching flight attendant in groin

1533222912024.jpg

A raging mum branded the "worst passenger ever" punched a flight attendant in the privates after downing half a bottle of wine and two vodkas at an airport bar.

Sozzled Helen Butcher left fellow passengers in tears after launching into a foul-mouthed rant on the TUI plane from Manchester to Kos.

The 51-year-old had knocked back half a bottle of wine on the way to the airport then sank two vodkas in the bar before boarding her 3:50 p.m. flight on June 27 last year.

After ordering a gin and tonic on the plane, Butcher then punched a male flight attendant in the genitals leaving him in "intense pain".

She then flew into a rage after cabin crew were told not to serve her any more booze and repeatedly told staff on the four-hour flight to "F--- off".

Butcher has now been jailed for 21 weeks at Manchester Crown Court after admitting two counts of assault, one count of being drunk on an aircraft and one count of using threatening words or behavior.

This looks cool.....

The Gate Agent Said He Had To Sing Before Boarding, So He Grabbed The Intercom And Shocked Us All

I have respect for people who make the most of their jobs. It’s a common complaint you hear from millennials. If you ever hear one complain about working a job that doesn’t mean anything to them, know that they’re not putting themselves into the work. Jobs don’t give us meaning, we give meaning to the jobs we do. When we make it an intention to put meaning into the work we do, we start to enjoy it more and then it has the power to touch the lives of other people.

When it comes to jobs at the airport or with airlines, we often see people simply going through the motions and waiting to clock out so they can get paid. And when you’re a passenger who has to deal with people who don’t care about their jobs, then you’re in for a struggle. Travel can be a headache on the best of days. So when a flight is delayed without any particular reason (at least as far as they’ll tell you), then you know what it means to be frustrated.

That’s what happened for travelers on one Southwest flight. Things were delayed, and passengers were growing eager to know why. A line of irate customers started to form in front of the gate agents, demanding answers.

Although the gate agents were the messengers and had no control over the delay, they were the ones who had to deal with the angry mob. And as you know, that can be like herding cats.

That’s when one of the Southwest gate agents came up with a plan. He knew how he could both deliver the message to everyone at once and put a smile on the angry passengers’ faces. In a word, it was a brilliant idea.

The gate agent decided that if any of the paying customers wanted to ask a question about the change in the flight details, they had to do it in a special way. They had to sing their question if they wanted to be heard.

Southwest canceled my early flight today and I have no way to get to my training in Salt Lake on time. Interestingly they canceled it due to landing conditions at Midway. I looked at Midway and plenty of other flights are landing around the same time mine was due. I’m calling bullshit on this. I think they didn’t have a plane or a full enough flight and weather was a convenient out.

SW has been cancelling or delaying left and right. I'm flying out of BWI to Ft Lauderdale for a cruise tomorrow, and I'm nervous as hell.

Airlines just suck in general. The company is now paying a $1000 to get me to the training for day 2 on Delta. Southwest couldn’t get me there until Wednesday without flying standby. Now I have a $425 voucher for whenever but no refund. No consequences to the airline at all.

Just sayin': If they cancelled the flight you should be entitled to a full refund.

I'm sitting at the airport watching the TV screen. It won't help you today; but, Delta is starting a nonstop flight to Salt Lake in June 2019.

Hope United flights CMH - EWR - EZE are on time today.
