Kicking around the idea of buying an airplane in 5-7 years. Anyone here have one? Is it worth it?
A friend of mine owned one with another guy for years. They went flying every week end together. He said he loved it but they sold it when they got old (80+)

Think about an ultralight, now! Real seat of the pants flying.

Probably something like this

I'd get a Pitts S-2B... and learn aerobatics. Close family friend had a few planes but this was by far the coolest, IMO. Unfortunately he died doing what he loved best, make sure you get oodles of life insurance to go with your plane, just incase...

Know a couple of guys who own their own and love them. I tease them that they have more pictures of planes in their office than their family. Get a good one as I know the one guy has his in for repairs all the time.

I knew a guy who ran a small airline years ago and he told me you can rent planes and only pay for time in the air. So if you fly to FL for a week's vacation you don't pay the whole week, only the time it takes to get to and from FL. I thought that was a pretty sweet deal.
