Affliction: Fedor Emelianenko vs. Tim Sylvia

I doubt that, a 6-2 230 pound Faber would be virtually unbeatable. To quick, to well rounded, and to tough.

No shit? If fedor was 10 foot tall and had two dicks, that would be pretty weird too,but he doesn't..

Faber's name doesn't even deserve to be in this thread. The fact that he WILL NEVER be that size only shows more of a reason why someone like fedor is so rare.

That reminds me of the rampage jackson man crush that was going around after he lost to forrest. People just did not want to see forrest as a champion, because they don't have a guy with a dog chain around his neck screaming and barking..They have a very humble, hard working champion. In todays lifestyle that just isn't as much fun to live an elife through I guess.

I tend to think that there are less big motherfuckers in fighting sports because there are less big motherfuckers in the general population, not because they are busy playing baseball.

My only point is that imo, you put a heavier Faber in the ring with Fedor, you get a broken Faber.

Lmao

I really don't get the aggression in these posts, other than one person saying that he thought everyone else could beat up Fedor, I think the posts have been primarily positive.

Fedor is a creature, plain and simple, he's like nothing else in MMA, but I am not going to toss everything to the side and say "FUCK EVERYTHING ELSE, FEDOR OR DIE!!!" I like seeing other styles, I like seeing other fighters, I like seeing what I see on the UFC, I like what I see in WEC stuff, I enjoy seeing what people have been trained to do and how they execute it.

I didn't see a lot of mancrush happening, maybe I just don't read enough MMA boards, as this is mostly where I discuss sports and stuff, but it seems that the more controlled fighters tend to be more mellow, humble and respectful, as their training has shown them. I know this is a Fedor thread, but I don't think everyone wants to see some guy running around screaming, look at Silva, the guy bows before his opponents, he doesn't brag, even in his pre fight blah he's more about "I am interested to see how I will measure up against him" not that "I am gonna knock his teeth out" and people love the guy.

Last night was great for the sport. People who had cable or ppv got to see some good action that took place, like I said, the only thing that upset me was the vera fight, but otherwise, I thought the UFC card was worth watching and the Affliction card was entertaining as well.

And if Randy and Fedor get it on over a PPV, you can bet your ass Dana White will do something to compete. He knows, just like you and I do, there's a lot of action out there to be seen, and he's on top but he's not going to stay there if he doesn't fight. If you don't like the guys product, don't watch it, it's as simple as that. But for everyone that says they hate him, they still tune in to watch UFC and keep up on their fighters. That's like saying "Littering is a huge problem, and we need to do something about it" as you toss your cigarette butt out the window.

My appreciation of Dana's fighters and my hatred of his douchebaggery co-exist nicely.

Edit: That analogy sucks, everyone knows cigarette butts don't count as litter. But we'll save that debate for the philosophical musings forum.

You act like Fedor has no skills and he wins on size or somthing.... sorry my friend Fedor is good at everything that is used in mma and he is tougher than those guys. His pain thresh hold is that of a woman who has birthed 14 kids and he recovers from in fight injury like no other. These things are what makes a great fighter pound for pound or whatever other lable you want to use. Just because he doesnt do spinning back kicks dont think any of those guys could handle him. He can be beat but it has to be a heavy weight...

Never said Fedor has no skill, just that the division he rules is weak. Like WVU winning the big east, yeah they look impressive but look at their competition. Really did anyone consider Tim Sylvia a huge threat, did anyone catch his last 10 fights? Hes looked awful since getting off roids. Zulu? Come on hes a joke. Chong man?

He just hasn't faced anyone great.

Cro-Cop. Fujita. Coleman. Randleman. Nogueira (2).

Difference is that at 6-2 230 Faber would be virtually the same size as Fedor. Meaning theres no weight advantage just each others skill on display to see whos better.

And if you think Faber doesn't belong in this conversation you're crazy, Faber could go around beating up on cans like Fedor does and go years with out losing, but unlike Fedor he actually has comp. And being the only good fighter in a terrible division isn't something to brag about, thats why Lennox Lewis will never be considered as great as Ali, cause of the comp level.

I agree he needs to fight more often and that freak fight before Sylvia was horrible... but when he was in Pride Cro Cop and Nog were tops.... if Cro Cop doesnt get caught by a freak kick in the head he still is a top three heavy weight. I dont think he is unbeatable but to say Anderson Silva could beat him is a bit much IMO. I love that guy to I just feel Fedor's methodical calculated and ruthless style is tops and so do most in the sport.
