AFC Championship Game: Ravens at Steelers(-4.5)

you can't take big hits out of the game. McGahee was a carrier of the ball, and the defender launched himself to make the tackle.

If you want to take head hits out of the game, you have to do what Mike Ditka suggested and go back to leather helmets without facemasks.

I know what you mean... this is just the what 2nd or 3rd player today that has been knocked out on hits like this...

isn't that what they did with horsecollar tackles?

I agree, let's ban all tackling and just make them play flag football.

Let's not. I admit I have an extreme bias against Pittsburgh but it seems like these things happen a lot in thier games and no penalties get called. Maybe I'm not clear on what makes a hit illegal but that seemed like a helmet-to-helmet. I have to admit that the Steelers have one bad-ass defense.:(

For once I think the one announcer had it right when he said that Flacco was having too much trouble throwing over the middle when rushed and that is the biggest reason why they lost.
Next Year look out, Flacco impresses me and I see him being a very good QB in the NFL.
No way that Troy replaces him other than injury.
Congrats to Pburg for a well played game.

Only in flag football

I guess this is what I was talking about...I think I had it confused because McGahee wasn't a defenseless player... and strange enough it is about Clark... the same guy who made this hit!

"After Clark was flagged for thrashing a "defenseless receiver," an official told him the infraction was called because he left his feet as he propelled his shoulder into the receiver."

First let me say I hope McGahee is alright.

Second let me mention that in the 2003 NC game he scores a td that doesn't put his team ahead, does the "shhhh" thing to the crowd and gets instant karma in the form of Will Allen a few minutes later.

Tonight he scores 2 td's and after each one his first instinct isn't to celebrate with his teamates but again to talk shit to the crowd. I didn't see him do the "shhhh" thing but he was definitly yapping at the crowd while his team was still losing. Karma says "hello" again in the form of Ryan Clark.

That Karma, she is always listening and she is indeed a bitch.

Hitting a defensless reciever is a completely different animal. Leaving ones feet to do that will indeed draw a flag.

When you have the ball and are in play, all bets are off.

Funny thing is less than 10 years ago or so there was almost no such thing as a defensless receiver. They were fair game.
