Rugby, the soon-to-be Mrs Rugby didn't look like the kind of person to be upset around African Americans when we were touring Martin Luther King's church, but I think Grad21 is right, it would be wise to mention it in passing and not make a big deal about it. Women love anticipation, they hate surprises that don't have a large cash value!

You're all right, of course, the drama ensuing from the demographic surprise would not be worth the momentary amusement at her expense or the extreme consequences.

You're right, Steve, she's very open and accepting and it wouldn't be fair to sandbag her just for the joke. On the other hand, you've got a point, NSB. How people react to things can give you a lot of insight. She passed those tests awhile back, though.

Your situation sounds very similar to mine, I had my reunion a month or so back. My wife was well aware of where I came from though. In my opinion, in a perfect world, no mention would be needed, but our world isn't perfect. What you might do is break out the yearbook and point out everyone that will be at the BBQ, tell her that it's so she at least has a face to go with the names, little stories about stupid shit you guys did, what ever. That way you don't need to let her in on the fact that you aren't %100 sure about her reaction, or that you are nervous about the race thing.

I asked my brother to go to the Washington game with us, and he said he had his HS reunion that weekend. LAME! If he were a regular on BP I'd have everyone ding the shit out of him. I'm still not sure if I'm really related to him. :p
