Accepted into THE Ohio State University - Questions!

MattJ

Rookie
Hey all, first things first my name is Matt and I'm 22 years old. Just finished my first two years at a community college in Central Florida and was banking on attending UCF for the last couple of years. Sadly UCF dropped my degree (Physical Education Teaching and Coaching) so I had to start looking for another school. That's where OSU came into play. OSU and Wisconsin were the only two schools that really caught my eye that still had my major as I always did love watching Big Ten football and basketball. After applying to both, Wisconsin denied me as a transfer student so I was praying OSU would be different and when I logged in today it was! I was accepted! So now to the questions..

As a 22 year old male that is completely involved in sports what are the intramurals like? Any good open gyms to run full court bball and meet people? What is the atmospehere like on gamedays? And lastly what is the bar & club scene like? I won't lie I love to party. My degree isn't exactly the hardest thing so there should be a lot of free time to just enjoy Columbus should I attend. (Leaning yes)

Basically I just need to be persuaded. I've been in Orlando for 19 years and I really don't want this to be a bad decision, not to mention I won't know a single person where ever I go.

OSU has a killer environment and after having lived in Orlando and Columbus...I would rather scrape my face off with a rusty cheese grater than go back to Orlando. :) For what it's worth...CBus has everything you need for entertainment (minus the beach nearby). OSU has great staff, facilities & scenery...not to sound too generic. You don't need to know anyone to fall into place and have a blast.

The only thing that Columbus doesn't have is a beach and pro sports. I refuse to consider the Blue Jackets pro sports.

The bar scene is good. There are dive bars that are awesome, if you like to pop your collar you'll be good. I've randomly walked into house parties and immediately played beer pong, so there's always that too.

It'll be fine. If you can't meet people here, you simply don't leave your house. Helen Keller could've met people here.

if the intermurals program is set up like it was when I was there most of the sports have both teams you can form yourself or if you dont have a team you can sign up and they will form a team or help you find a team depending on how many individual people sign up.
