ACC Men's Tournament 2007

they've beaten at least 7 tournament teams: air force, davidson, indiana, georgetown, gonzaga, georgia tech, and boston college (twice). they have lost 7 out of their last 11 games; however, they have too many quality wins to be left out. even if name recognition is not considered, the argument that duke should not make the tournament will not be made among the selection committee members.

I was just kidding. Of course Duke will make the tournament. But 4-7 in their last 11 games, 8-8 in conference play, and losing in the first round of their conference tourney to an unranked opponent certainly isn't anything to brag about.

i didn't respond to a claim that they wouldn't make it. i responded to what i thought was your claim that there is an argument to be made for duke's exclusion from the tournament.

Look, I can understand your point that my comment might not have read like a joke. But if you read my various posts regarding college basketball throughout this forum, you'll see that I follow college basketball very closely (and, frankly, I believe I am very knowledgeable about it). In short, of course I know it's preposterous that Duke wouldn't make the tournament.

Duke's still a team you don't want to play. Personally I'm relieved that Duke is out because it means my 'Hoos don't have to play them tomorrow. Win over Duke or not, NC State still doesn't present as much of a threat. 'Course, now I have to hope it's not a case of "be careful what you wish for."

I could name 30 or so teams I'd be more worried about than Duke. Duke is ripe for the picking and have little to no depth. I'd love to see tham in OSU's bracket.

As an avid FSU fan, I can say if we hadn't lost Toney Douglas for 2 weeks we'd be a tourney team....if we should lose to UNC, I just hope the committee takes his loss into consideration b/c we played solid all year with him in ACC play....we couldn't do jack w/o him

Agreed. That doesn't mean I'm not worried about them at all, or that you wouldn't have at least a little bit of apprehension when playing them. I'd still rather face NC State tomorrow.

i'm thinking 60% at 7, 30% at 8, and 10% at 6. that duke has lost 7 of their last 11 games is too great of a stat to overlook.

it will be interesting to see what lower seed they end up getting paired up with in the first round.
