ABC, ESPN to share broadcasters

The networks are expected to make the official announcement Monday.

The trio of play-by-play man Brent Musburger, analyst Gary Danielson and sideline reporter Jack Arute will be in the Valley for two games, the Insight Bowl on Dec. 27 on ESPN and the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 2 on ABC.<!-- BOXAD TABLE --><!-- END BOX AD TABLE -->

The Insight Bowl will match the Pac-10's fourth-place team against the Big East No. 3.

It's the most likely bowl destination for Arizona State if it defeats Arizona on Friday.

The Fiesta Bowl is part of the BCS and could be looking at a Notre Dame vs. Ohio State or Oregon matchup.

The move is a part of the overall convergence plan of the two networks, adding to the behind-the-scenes efforts that have been ongoing from technical standpoints.[/FONT]

I seriously doubt that - how could they turn their back on all of the over-the-airwaves viewers?

I'm consistently surprised by how much better of a job ABC does covering CFB games than ESPN - better camera operators, better video clips, better music, heck - even better commercials (and less of them with ESPN throwing 15 second commercials in between every other play)

You'd think ESPN would be better since it's their primary business, but they still fail to match up to (or take advantage of) ABCs more polished system.

I really hope you're wrong on this :wink2:

That's why I'm surprised that ESPN hasn't taken a page (or maybe the entire book) from ABCs CFB coverage system. IMO it's just a heck of a lot better. That's all I was really trying to say here...

I agree 100%. ABC airs the best sports broadcasts of ANY station. They look, sound, and just feel much superior to the others. Not to mention I fuckin LOVE listening to Musberger and Danielson do a Buckeye game.

I was thinking the same thing... Maybe it's because he was depressed by the outcome and got nailed for drinking in his car afterwards?

Yes it was gay with the color of the tie and everything...but he still does a much better job announcing the game than those fellers over at ESPN who've never even been heard of.

I mean, I like that crew better than any other we've had for games. They at least know a bit about OSU football and can pronounce player names right...the game against Indiana I think...we had a Whittaker and a Pepperson or something n other...a few guys i've never heard of :P

I guess this explains why ESPN had a seperate crew at the OSU-scUM game last week when on the West Coast the game was on ESPN. I could never figure out why ESPN didn't use the same feed from ABC on that game. Instead they spent extra money to have 2 seperate crews and two seperate feeds. I mean come on, they're both own by the same company(Disney).

And on what crew I like best, Musberger and Danielson is my top favorite, atleast they aren't totally against OSU. My least favorite would have to be Keith Jackass and Dan Fucks.

I don't get the impression that musberger is pro scUM. I think he is very emotional in his call of the game. I also like danielson. those two together seem to get along. I hate kieth jackson, except for....

WHOA NELLY!

musberger/ danielson are far superior to the espn crew. while watching mili's video clip of pittmans td, the announcer who called it sounded like he woke up a second after he scored. and...pittman...touchdown...
horrible call in that situation.
