Last night with Stanford about to take the lead late in the game, Fouts and Jackson were both terrible in regards to the game clock situation.
Stanford has a second and goal on the 4 yard line, down 30-24, with a minute 50 remaining, and Fouts says that ND 'did Stanford a favor' by calling time out. Well, Dan, I guess that Stanford, since they were out of timeouts, would have a tough time getting off 3 plays in 110 seconds!
Then Stanford scores on the next play, and with about 1:45 left, and ND with 2 timeouts left, Keith says 'for the win!' when the guy kicks the XP to put them up 31-30. Try 'for the lead', Keith.
ND then predictably drove for the game-winning score, using less than 1 minute and neither of their timeouts.
Both Fouts and Jackson acted like that was completely unthinkable when Stanford was scoring to take the lead. I liked Keith for decades, but he should have stayed retired. Fouts has always been mediocre.
