A detailed list of great Pro Michigan Running Backs

I wouldn't go there. Aside from Eddie I don't see too many Buckeyes making NFL history. My own theory is that a good back from the Big 10 or SEC is too beat up by the time he hits the NFL to have much of a career.

Robert Smith (98 games over 8 seasons): 1,411 rushes, 6,818 yards (4.8 avg), 32 TD's; 178 receptions, 1,292 yards (7.3 avg), 6 TD's

Keith Byars (189 games over 13 seasons): 865 rushes, 3,109 yards (3.6 avg), 23 TD's; 610 receptions, 5,661 yards (9.3 avg), 31 TD's

Byars played TE/H-back for much of his NFL career.

Smith had Hall of Fame stats going when he called it quits at age 28. At that time, he had four straight 1,000-yard seasons, including 1,521 yards in his final season (2000), which led the NFC in rushing. Note the 4.8 yards per carry, which is very good for the NFL.

I'll certainly give you Robert Smith. Remember also that he was only a Buckeye for two years... which gets to my point: it's tough to get through a Big 10 Career and have anything left for the pros as a running back.

Penn State's Ki-Jana Carter and Curtis Enis were excellent college backs but did little in the pros. Same Same 'A' train, Chris Perry and Butchamafucka, Wisconson's Ron Dayne and Iowa's Tim Dwight.

No wonder MoC wanted to try and make the jump... which brings me to my final part, of the Michigan players hanging around for one more shot at the Buckeyes, Chris Hart has the mnost to lose in my opinion. He's not that big, he runs hard and right at people and he's already proven to be brittle...

Tom Matte

Going for the way back machine are we? Ok, remember that off that team Matte was the QB and played on the colts as a back up QB and a flanker back, more for catching passes than running the ball in the colt's offense. Bob Ferguson, who I was sure would rival Jim Brown, lasted but one season with the Steelers and Paul Warfield was turned into a wide receiver.
