I was a little peeved that the Buckeyes were seeded 8 -- until I saw who was seeded 9. Siena really looks more like a 12 or 13 to me. Thoughts?

They were a 13 seed last year and kicked the shit out of 4th seeded Vanderbilt, 83-62.

The played Northern Iowa last month and beat them, 77-71. UNI is a 12 seed playing Purdue.

Siena is a good team, with a 4 and 1 approach. I watched their championship game and was impressed. There center looks 12, but is a heckuva player. The 4 around him are perimeter type players, including a crafty 6'6 or 6'7 PF.

It will be a difficult game, but truthfully, I'd rather get a mid-major in Dayton than a BCS conference team far from Columbus.

No complaints from me.....I think the seeding is fair, and we have an excellent opportunity to win our first game. Louisville is a monster in the second round if we reach them, but that is what you would expect from our seeding.

Siena team rankings NCAA& Ranking Summary

Scoring Offense- 30th
Scoring Defense- 223rd
FG %- 33rd
FG% Defense- 189th
3PT FG Per Game- 262nd
3PT FG %- 181st
3PT FG Defense- 153rd
Free Throw %- 248th
Rebounding Margin- 199th
Assists/Turnover Ratio- 43rd
Steals Per Game- 15th
Turnover Margin- 16th

so they can score but arent a good 3 point shooting team (which is good for us)

they are good at forcing turnovers and not turning it over themselves, however they give up alot of points and teams shoot a high % against them

My biggest concern with the Saints is their assist/turnover margin, steals and forced turnovers. Turnovers are our biggest weakness, IMO. If they can exploit it, we'll have a battle on our hands.

If we protect the ball, feed Mullens, and give ET room to work I think we'll be okay. The key is protecting the ball.

I really like this matchup for us. They are an athletic team, but one that gets a lot of its points in the paint. They do not shoot the three particularly well, which bodes well for us because that is by far our biggest weakness, and they aren't a great defensive team, especially FG% and 3PTFG% defense, which are two areas where we can exploit them. They are an up-tempo team, which is ok by me because we are an up-tempo team as well and it wont be a real battle of the styles here.

The one thing that really concerns me is the turnovers. As alluded to earlier, Siena is excellent at forcing them, top 20 in the nation in both steals and blocks I think. That, combined with the fact that we are a relatively sloppy team to begin with, makes me think that this game really hinges on limiting points off of turnovers. I have to think that our 3-2 will give them fits, especially with our length inside to challenge shots. I'm just scared to death they are going to kill us with turnovers and points off of.

they won't apply a ton of pressure to PJ or Jeremie which is huge, IMO. They'll be able to get us into our offense without needing to depend on Evan which is big.

You?re kidding right? Siena will pressure Ohio State's guards like there is no tomorrow. Siena will press and try to run to explicit Siena?s advantage in team speed

I think the question is the other way around- Siena's guards are quicker than Ohio State's ..If this game was any other place but Ohio- I'd bet the house Siena wins. Ive seen Ohio State a few times this year- you guys have a good team- but a team that is prone to turning the ball over , you're not especially big or quick. The Saints will have to handle the crowd and shoot a decent pct or it will be a long night for the Saints. Ohio State's state guards will have to handle Siena's pressure without turning the ball over. I expect a good game- lets face it the 8/9 games are normally close

Opening line is Ohio State favored by 3.5
