#8 Ohio State vs #9 TCU, Thursday March 19, 1215pm ET, CBS

I think Diebler could probably be pretty successful in a MAC type setting, but I think to this point it's pretty clear that he is in over his head trying to get a major program past the point of just average.
They bought from the bargain basement clearance rack for NIL last offseason and paid a price in terms of quality. I say let's give him a chance with real NIL funds for the portal before we write him off.

I "hate" on him based on his actual coaching ability. Days like today don't give much hope that it's ever going to get much better. He really struggles with the Xs and Os and consistently having the team well prepared. Maybe getting an assistant who's great at those sorts of things could help him

Welp….

Now that it’s over with, the turds in the fanbase that pretend to care about basketball from January to march can go back in their collective holes….only to reemerge when summer camp opens to say stupid shit like JJ Smith doesn’t care or Ryan Day needs to win every game by 40 or parrot whatever stupid nonsense Jbook says….

Tilly was really not what the team needed this last offseason, but they clearly had ZERO NIL funds to spend on the team last offseason. Some of the team's struggles today can be traced back to not having invested in Big Ten-caliber depth and talent last spring. Again, TCU is a system team, it was going to look one of two ways, as their system is designed to take a player like Bruce out of the game and make other guys beat them, and clearly there's a huge drop-off from Bruce to the other guys on the team. Also, clearly the lack of physicality on OSU in the frontcourt showed up due to lack of funding for the team. You can't get a good team for cheap now, but that seems to be what the OSU leadership is demanding of Diebler for this season. It's going to take a huge funding increase before I expect this program to change considerably from where they're at right now.

I think the chances of next year being a hard-set back disaster are real high if they don't at least get a somewhat improved portal haul than we've gotten the past 2 seasons.

Dielbler is the definition of "meh". I don't hate him, but this is about his ceiling. It sucks that OSU's admin has totally blown off all other sports for football.
With NIL and coaching salaries this is pretty much the world we’re in now.

Schools that try to do everything usually slip in football and the schools that go all in on football tend to only be elite there.

So Diebler made an interesting comment post-game saying one of the options was to advance the ball some and then call a timeout. Most of us were under the impression that we were out of timeouts. If OSU was not charged a timeout because they were reviewing the clock (saw this suggested online), and we actually had a timeout, how do you not draw up a pass play to get it past half court, and then take that timeout?
