#6 Ohio State 91, Coppin State 54 (Final)

It just looks to me like they're not interested in playing...not just this game, but everytime they've played so far.

IMO, this team needs a leader or two. Someone to light a fire or be a cheerleader. The problem from my perspective is they all have a laid back temperment. We really need someone to raise a little hell.

this is the game thread?

a few super quick thoughts

hunter, most improved player on the team. get him some strength and hell be a good player for us next year. has come a long long way.

pretty much the same over and over for the other guys.

oden, didnt i see one right handed free throw? or was that me dreaming?

PHILOSPHICAL CHANGE (for the third time) weve seen push it run and gun ball, jam the ball into the post ball, and now a compromise.

i liked how it wasnt forced into oden tonite, if its there take it. if not go through your other options.

i loved the cook over/around oden sets too.

ive got more but i guess i might as well go talk to my wall...

Good stuff JO.

I totally agree about the compromise. I think that it is just taking time to adjust to the style of play and then to for each player to settle into his role.

It is also nice to see Butler putting up shots once again. It seems that he may have found his role and is looking for his shot a little more, but still knowing when to dish and find the open guy. He seems to be one of the better ones at knowing when to get the ball to Oden and not forcing it or putting him in a situation with 2 guys on him.

But with Big Ten season right around the corner the 2 guys we are going to need to step up and lead the team combined for a total of 5 pts tonite in a game in which we scored 91 pts. These are the same two guys that put up around 50 against UNC. Lewis and Harris need to find a way to put their points on the board and lead us at times in big games, as the frosh may tense up like they did @ UF.

Overall I would of like to of seen a win at either UNC or UF, but we played UNC without Oden and game them all they wanted and UF was an ass kickin' that will help us prepare more for the rest of the season moreso than what a win or a close lose would of done.

I also can't wait for the students on both ends of the court and hopefully the schott will be rockin' come big ten season...

Drew Tate is available. He has a LOT of temperament.

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

It was Coppin State, so don?t get too excited.
Given the recent trend, however, the Ohio State men?s basketball team was not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. Not when it had spent recent weeks trying unsuccessfully to rip the wrapping off the rims. Christmas past, the basket once again was open for long-distance business last night, and the Buckeyes wasted no time dialing in. Eight three-point field goals in the first half, more than they had made in any of their previous four games, got them rolling toward a 91-54 victory over Coppin State in Value City Arena.

I suppose this was a good game for us in regards to getting a win.
I am concerned about a few things. I want us to be undefeated in B10 play.
With the number of players we have I am worried about the not so well balanced scoring. Conley is the point guard I realize but one basket against a team like CSU, Lewis 0-8 wow. We have to be more balanced on both sides of the ball especially with Big 10 play starting.
The D isn't a team D yet either. Something they will have to work on hard.
I don't feel right about the meshing of the old players and the new, Matta has to resolve this, IF it does exist.
We play Indiana first, they better be ready.
GO BUCKS
