Wow, I just heard Lee Corsl say that these players should be benched for the Sugar Bowl and that Tressel can set a precedent. What a bunch of crap from this hypocrite. Is there any doubt that this OSU hater would never bench a kid because of conduct? Corso would probably start a kid on death row.

It's nice listening to Desmond Howard pontificate on how Jim Tressel needs to set a precedent here despite the NCAA allowing the kids to play in the bowl game. It's also nice to hear Desmond talk about "these guys are gonna go the NFL anyway." Beautiful. That may be what you would do Desmond, it remains to be seen what these players will do.

I haven't heard a SOUL talk about sitting Cam Newton to set a precedent. I haven't heard a soul talk about a decision that Gene Chizik needs to make with his QB.

But consider, OSU has an outstanding reputation that is well deserved.

Everyone knows that Auburn is one of the biggest cheaters in all of college football.

Everyone expects OSU to do the right thing. NO ONE expects that from Auburn.

And for the record, I don't personally think that Pryor and company should sit for the Sugar Bowl. I'm glad they are being allowed to play.

I think he should suspend the 5, BUT only if the NCAA will count this game towards next season (-1) and reduce next years suspension by one, on appeal so it resembles AJ Green's and reflects the University's and the students disclosure of the matter....So it would only be 3 games next year, w/o that deal I say play them, the world knows the NCAA is a joke anyway.

if that is what it takes to make a statement in favor of integrity, then yes. Ohio State's integrity is more important that 5 vs 6 games.

That being said, there is a good chance the appeal to the NCAA will either include the Sugar Bowl or reduce the # of games...or both.

By the way...the way I've read it was Gene Smith and Jim Delany that petitioned the NCAA to allow the players to play in the Sugar Bowl in exchange for a 1 game longer suspension next year.

regardless, the whole thing stinks from beginning to end....the players breaking a difficult rule to fairly administer....to the sudden leak of it on the even of the bowl preparation....to the sudden rush to defend players even when caught red handed....to the media's piling on....to the in-fighting among the Buckeye nation

Walk proudly in to traffic court and when the Judge fines you, stand and say "Ethically, your honor, I am a horrible person. I knew the rules regarding speed, but I went too fast anyway. It was a selfish decision. As a result, a fine is simply not enough to teach me a lesson. I am turning in my keys and I will never drive again"

From what I read, the Sugar Bowl officials did appeal to the NCAA, but their appeals had absolutely nothing to do with the decision.

Ohio State offered a suspension of a number of games (which they applied starting with the bowl game), the NCAA then said "No they are eligible for the bowl game, but ineligible for 5 games next year instead"
