sorry, didn't realize there was a rumor mill thread for the Sugar Bowl too. I will be more thorough in the future.
There's just one big rumor mill where unsubstantiated stuff goes. Bucknuts has since admitted they can't back this up like most things, other than what some folks have told them. Meanwhile many folks have denied it on the record.

It doesn't mean it's refuted, but it means the rumor is baseless until shown otherwise.

Per May and Gordon:

OSU investigating possible violations

By Tim May and Ken Gordon

Ohio State is investigating possible NCAA violations involving several football players receiving tattoos in exchange for autographs, multiple sources have told the Dispatch.

Sources indicate that some sort of discipline is likely to be handed down, but it is unclear when, or to what extent. It is possible that some players may not be available for the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 4, but it's also possible that any discipline could get pushed back to the start of the 2011 regular season.

Athletic director Gene Smith has not returned multiple messages.

NCAA rules prohibit student-athletes from using their status as athletes to receive a benefit not available to the general public.

Sources said every OSU player practiced as usual on Tuesday, the final day of practice before players were given four days off for Christmas, Players report back to Columbus on Sunday, practice Monday and Tuesday, then travel to New Orleans on Dec. 29.

Who cares its a tattoo. We got Cecil running around grabbin money from every school in the country and we cant get a tattoo?

If Ohio State were in the national title game, the NCAA would have already ruled that players are allowed to receive free tattoos from friends. Would have been the fastest investigation in history.
