5 Bold Predictions for 2009

- OSU doesn't come within a score of tying with USC after the 1st half.
- Tim Tebow will put in a great performance in taking Florida undefeated to yet another NC.
- Colt McCoy will win the Heisman and end up the on the 3rd undefeated team, the one that gets left out. Riots will ensure in Florida, and the army will need to be called in to quell the unrest.
- For the first time in JT's tenure, and for the 1st time since I started following football, we go to the Rose bowl!!! And we will play either LSU, avenge 2007, end the 0-9 streak against SEC in bowl games, and get Les Miles complaining about Oh'ie State, or a BCS buster... and win it.
- Bobby Bowden will retire.

1). Ohio State will defeat a one-loss Florida team to claim the mythical national title, with the BCS title decided by two other teams. (sounds silly, but I dreamt that up, so I'm putting that out there).

2). Pryor will be our leading rusher. Last season I said Pryor would be our second leading rusher, and that turned out correct. If Pryor shows early that he can have a ton of success running the ball, and with young WRs, I think he will be asked to run the ball quite a lot.

3). Gibson will break the single season sack record.

4). UM's season will end with Sheridan at QB.

5). With the undefeated Buckeyes getting snubbed from the title game, this will be the last season under the current BCS format.

I agree with this one completely. Something like being an uber-talented but young team. They'll be able to match up well with any team, but being so young might not have their heads in every game. This feels kind of like some of the great teams from the '90's and if TSUN weren't so inept right now, this would be the year they would probably take one.

Illionis will be a barn burner at home and could go either way, I look for them to be quite good this year and that could be the loss, but I think it's more of a sleeper team that comes up and bites us.

I think the Purdue game is dangerous. New coach, their house and hasn't played tOSU well in a while, they might not get the respect they deserve and the new coach will gunning hard to make a big statement. If it had to predict one, I'd say that's our loss, in a frustrating, ugly game. 12-1 on the season with a Rose Bowl win.

Oh, and I like the GT prediction... Go Jackets!

1-the team who scores more points will be the definite defining factor in picking the winners of each game.
2-the winner of the national championship will come from south of the 49th
3-joe paterno will complain.
4-rich rod will do something sleazy.
5-the national championship game competitors will be debated.

May I add two to your elite list?

6 - Notre Dame fans will tell everyone who will listen and that they deserve a BCS bowl game. They will lose their bowl game by more than 15 points.

7 - TSUN fans will continue to be obnoxious.

1. Southern Cal won't attempt more than 20 passes in a game till their 4th game. They will lean on their RB's to break in a new quarterback and it will be relatively successful. However, they will lose to the Buckeyes by 6 points in the shoe.

2. Daybo Sweeny will further embarass the Clemson football program and they'll be looking for a new coach at the end of the year.

3. NC State will be the most improved team in the ACC. I just really believe in Tom O'Brien and the programs he builds.

4. Lane Kiffin will have a better than expected first year at UT - but Gene Chizik will be the new hire that has the most success in their first year in the SEC.

5. Notre Dame suffers a bowl loss by 3+ touchdowns.

1. Ohio State beats USC by 10+ points.

2. Tim Tebow will get injured missing multiple weeks. Disclaimer: I'm not hoping for this. I just can't believe with his style of play it hasn't happened yet.

3. LSU loses SEC Championship to Florida with Tebow back.

4. Florida (13-0) vs. Texas (13-0) BCS National Championship Game.

5. Florida wins by 14+ points. During postgame interview on the 50 yard line a glow surrounds Tebow. He rises from the ground and ascends into heaven. Urban Meyer is quoted as saying, "I knew it."

After two not so successful years of bold predictions in 2007 and 2008 (two out of ten correct) I'll try my luck again this year:

- Florida will NOT go to the BCS National Championship Game, but an impressive victory in the Sugar Bowl will have some claiming for a split title

- Oklahoma will finish behind Texas and Oklahoma State in the Big 12 South

- Oregon will beat USC in Autzen and have a grip on the Pac-10 title until they lose to Oregon State in their final regular season game and the Trojans will once again take the Pac-10 crown

- Ohio State will beat both USC and Penn State and take home the Big Ten crown, but will lose an unexpected game to a mid-level Big ten team (not Michigan)

- Georgia Tech will win the ACC and look impressive in the process

Really nice predictions, RIB.

Not terrible, either.

Pretty astounding, actually. Great job!
