5 Bold Predictions for 2008

You just have to worry about all 8 of the bucks fans when you lose!

Sorry raincoat, I've been to games in the Coliseum during USC's down years.

Your fan support is almost as bandwagon as Miami's.

Unfortunately when Nopete's house of cards finally collapses Gretzky won't be around so you can all pretend to be life long hockey fans.

It's an LA fanbase idea in general for the most part. When the Lakers are good, everyone has a Lakers flag in their car, now the the Chargers are good, everyone has Chargers stickers on their car, but once those teams start losing, people just stop caring.

That's not to say there aren't die hard fans here, but the general idea is if the team isn't winning, most people aren't watching.

Oh I know, that was one of the nice things about being a sports fan out there...I could walk up on game day and get decent to good ticket for pretty much any sporting event I wanted (well except for the Lakers, but who gives a shit about the NBA).

Yup. Tickets for Chargers and Padres games were always available in the early 90's.

Actually, when Shaq left you could go buy tickets to most Lakers games like that too. It was funny to see a team who had won championships three times in the past 5 years not sell out. Granted, they were tickets in the 200 section, but still.

Sorry. Didn't venture out of San Dog County often.

I spent most of my time down south as well (I lived in Del Mar) but always made a point to see the Reds when they were playing the Dodgers.

Other than that I made a conscious effort to see the various stadiums/teams.

FWIW Angels stadium wasn't really any farther from San Onofre than the Murph was from Fallbrook or Mainside.

That surprises me a bit. The Lakers were always the one sure thing crowd wise it seems. You'd think Jesus Kobe Bryant would kept packing them in. lol

Uh, isn't the very definition of a die-hard fan as one who will watch his/her team even when the team isn't winning?

I'm sure it wasn't much farther. I just never cared that much about LA teams to actually pay them a visit. I liked Tony Gwynn and Ken Caminiti, so I went to Padre games. They support the military there so I supported them

Yes, and there's a lot of those but the city, in general, isn't that type of sports city.

I am a Chargers fan, I have been my whole life and have watched some of the worst football seasons in history, and during those down years, the local radio programs here went "All Raiders, All the time" and now, 5 years later, it's all Chargers.

There are some die hard fans here, but it's not a city full of them.
