inconsistency is the trademark of mediocrity...though purdue is extremely erratic (for example, 14-point victory and 16-point loss versus m*ch*gan), they don't suck.

heck of a ball player, honestly dont think he would have fit all that well with what we have and matta likes to play. that being said i wouldnt turn him down, but he made a good choice to play for izzo. i see him as a tweener. not quite polished enough for the perm play fo the 3, but not physical enough at this point to play the 4. though i think in time he can develop both of those and will be a very very player for izzo up at msuGolferdow01;736679; said:Back to basketball...what are your thoughts on Raymar Morgan? One of the top frosh in the Big 10?
all typical of "average" b10 teams if you ask me...however, purdue's inconsistency doesn't mean that suck... only that they run the gamut from suckitude to proficience. furthermore, as was mentioned, purdue is generally a much better team at home than on the road.
average big 10 teams usually don't go undefeated for their first 13 games. again, there is a difference between "mediocre" and "suck."jimotis4heisman;736726; said:all typical of "average" b10 teams if you ask me... right?

No. 5 Ohio State (19-3) at Michigan State (17-63)
In my Thursday Hoop Thoughts column, I wrote about the need for potential bubble teams to earn "hang-your-hat wins." This is a golden opportunity for Michigan State to do just that. The Spartans, and especially Drew Neitzel, were impressive while nearly erasing a 20-point halftime deficit last weekend in Columbus before losing by two. Michigan State still struggles to score, but it is one of the few teams in the league that has some big bodies to throw at Greg Oden. Now, they need to be able to contain Oden without fouling; he took 14 free throws (making 11) in the first meeting. Ohio State got a season-high 18 points from Mike Conley Jr., in Wednesday's win at Purdue, but I don't see Conley going Neitzel again in this one. Ohio State is the better team, but Michigan State badly needs this one, and they're playing at home. 'Nuff said.
