I'm not saying they couldn't have been feeling it, but it is lame for a Coach - particularly one of K's stature - to publicly toss it out there after the game.

Congratulate your opponent, move on, and tell your players you'll get them next time.

Fool you once, shame on them.
Fool you repeatedly, shame on you.

I think that jet lag and the pace in Maui could have affected Duke. Getting down so quickly in a hostile venue also hurt.

But they came back and kept it very close midway through the 1st half.

Ohio State was the better team on the night. I think they are the better team overall. Do they win at Duke? I think so, but it's a close game.

The Buckeyes deserve to be #1.

That would be interesting since this team hasn't been tested in a hostile road environment, yet. Of course, we'll see what happens 1.5 weeks from now in Phog. That will be another great test of this team.

I do think we'd beat them in Cameron. Definitely wouldn't be as lopsided as last night, but we're the better, more polished team. Duke seems to still be a work in progress. It'd be fun to play them again in March.

There is no reason why Kentucky should be ranked above us at this point, except for the sheer momentum of previous rankings. They'll be playing Carolina this weekend, so there's a chance things will end up being taken care of.

Regardless, the only ranking that matters is the one in April

The last game we played outside of the Schott was a loss to Kentucky, so this early in the season it is certainly arguable.

As you noted, it really doesn't matter at this point.

Interesting, OSU beating Duke is metaphysically tied into trouble in the football program.

In 1978, the last time we beat Duke, they were ranked #1, Mike Gminski was their center. Big big win.

On the same night, late December 1978, Woody punched Charlie Bauman.

Ooooooooo-ooooo-ooooooh (spooky sounds)

Very cool.

If we make it to the final four in March, we'll have to fire Urban or something....

It's only a 5-hour time difference between EST and HST right now. They've been back at their campuses for a week now. No excuses...

Yep. The 7 games in 13 days is more of an excuse than time zone differences but even that is a stretch since there were 5 days between their last game and OSU.

Totally different team that lost to Kentucky. We beat the #7 team (up by as much as 15 in the second half), ape-fucked (up by 25 in the second half) the #3 team, and beat the other five teams by 31+ points. Kentucky, on the other hand, although they did beat Kansas by 10 (tied at halftime), they struggled against juggernaut Old Dominion and won by only 10 (Old Dominion had lost to Northern Iowa by 17). Very arguable that we should be #1, and that it should be pretty close to unanimous...

Was Dook tired? Maybe. Definite possibility. But in the end, what probably does them in more than anything was the huge surge at the beginning and then just a crazy good night from our team. Dook did come back from the initial surge, but that took some effort, and then you had to expect another mini-run from us...which then happened. And after that, it was off to the races.

I can't remember the last time I saw a game where we just continued to play lights-out. I kept expecting some sort of drop-off for a period of time, but that just never happened.

Dookie just ran into a buzz saw last night. I hope that buzz saw is on display in March, because when this team plays at the top of its game, there are maybe 2 or 3 other teams in the country that can stay with us at the top of their game.
