This is from a Dawg Recruiting article so it's focus is more on UGA, but it poses an interesting theory. Should Senior Tape matter more than "Elite 11 Camp" and "THA OPENING" appearances. It would seem that it's trending that way.
Outside of the LOLPENNSTATE, what do you guys think? Is it a good practice to hold a couple of ships in your pocket and wait till you see senior film?
Do you miss the chance to be on recruits "TOP 6, TOP 4, TOP 9" list if you do so?
Im not an expert but I think it varies. I think the senior tape of a prospect who plays in a large, competitve division and a strong football state (TX, CA, FL, etc...) should absolutely be a big factor. I also think for some athletes coming from smaller schools and less noteworthy states in terms of overall talent, you like to take into account what they do against other top competition at camps because you don’t necessarily know if what is on film is talent, as much as just being that much better and stronger/faster than the competition. Now you’ve got to be able to make those judgements as to what you put your stock in to and it’s an inexact science just as recruiting in general is.
