2022 forward Dillon Mitchell is highly regarded but most people probably didn’t see this coming:
Elite Overtime has offered him $2 million.
Aside from some basic questions, like how EO can keep paying such high salaries without a meaningful gate, give this idea some thought:
Mitchell should leverage this deal.
How?
He’s likely considering several schools and Tennessee is seen as the favorite.
If we were advising Mitchell, and maybe indirectly we are, we’d tell him to not be in a rush.
What he should do is to publicly announce that he’ll go to Tennessee, or one or two other schools,
if local businesses and perhaps some national ones too, can crowd source to raise more than $2 million.
As this competition cranks up, he could go to, say, Knoxville and set up an autograph show.
In a perfect world, all the finalists, or at least fans and interested parties, would engage in a bidding war and he’d make a lot more than $2 million.
If not, as long as he goes to college, he could consider transferring to another school where that fanbase might meet his asking price.
