Our defense took a step forward yesterday, especially with the front seven. Much more aggressive play and pressure throughout the game. And this was by multiple players. Holding Iowa to 39 yds rushing was impressive and hopefully will be a trend going into the future.

DEFENSIVE LINE'S OFF THE MILK CARTON
Heading into yesterday's clash, Ohio State's defensive line had been maybe the most underwhelming position group on the roster. Ryan Day challenged the room, bemoaning the lack of actual production, and Larry Johnson's unit stepped up big time against the Hawkeyes.Defensive end Qua Russaw came out of nowhere to finish second on the team with five stops while adding 1.5 TFL and a sack. Fellow DE Zion Grady returned from injury to add four stops. Reserve DE Beau Atkinson recorded a hurry. Cornerstone DE Kenyatta Jackson Jr. chipped in one tackle, a sack, a TFL and a forced fumble to set up Ohio State's first score.
On the interior, Eddrick Houston played maybe his best game as a Buckeye with four stops and a pair of hurries. James Smith had a stop and a PBU. John Walker had two hurries and Jason Moore added a hurry, too.
Overall, three of Ohio State's top four tacklers on the afternoon came from the defensive line and seven of those guys had at least a TFL, sack, hurry or PBU. That's doing work right there.
With the defensive line creating havoc, Iowa managed 39 rushing yards on 1.9 per carry and starting QB Hank Brown completed only 12-of-27 throws for 132 yards and a pick.
