Being the best MAC teams means literally nothing these days

WMU last year also lost 23-6 to Michigan State, a bad B1G team and 38-0 to Illinois a middle of the road B1G team.

We've seen way more talented G5 teams get completely embarrassed in the playoff the last 2 years.

Basically no top 25 team should have any trouble with the "best" MAC team.

If you're that pile of turds up north who think they're a team, you should expect to make the playoffs 3 years out of 5, and at least 1 of those 2 years you missed it, it should be close. Like, you're not top 12 but you're top 15.
Win or lose against the Broncos, you can probably only lose 1 more game if you want to make the playoffs this year. I can't imagine them taking a 10-2 team that should have lost to WMU over a 10-2 team that lost to a couple of top-10 teams.

My point is that in Year 3 of this expanded playoff, you're on the edge of going 0-fer. That should be the real concern for them - not trying to argue that their opponent was super awesome last year, after scoring 6 points in 2 games against the Big Ten.

Remember that their whole program is built in comically shaky ground.

In 1887 they stopped at Notre Dame, taught them how to play the game, then immediately played a game against them and it's marked as a W in the record books. This definitely isn't the only case of this, but it is the most famous one.

Not to stop there. The stop at ND was on their way to play Northwestern, that game got cancelled, so scUM played a High School instead, which also of course is counted as a W in the record books. (I believe there is at least one other W in their records against a High School as well)

This is the kind of shit that got them that "all time winningest program" title.

And that's before you even start to get into all the shady shit that Fielding Yost pulled.
