If their title* is vacated, everyone will see the asterisk. They will never be able to hide from it.

We don't have to claim victory and I don't support that but it also shuts up the "but we know we really won because it happened" nonsense. One less thing to keep my sanity I guess

Actually, a ”no contest” takes away their wins and removes tOSU’s losses, and I’d be OK with that.

Forfeits would change their wins to losses and change tOSU’s losses to wins. That would be even better, but I’m not expecting it.

But I agree that vacating wins and leaving the losses is BS.

We all know the NCAA is going to let us down in some capacity. I don't think they're authorized for drone strikes. But if vacating vs no contests vs forfeits is the area that they let us down, while coming through with post season bans, scholarship reductions, show causes, and public non-acknowledgement of the title......I'll scale it up from "BS" to "eh, fine".

The annoyance is that they’re not going to take away the natty because they weren’t, unless my timeline is messed up, still cheating then … never mind that all the recruiting to build the team and psychological edge on other teams was built on the cheating.

If you don't take away the natty, the whole cheating scheme was successful. The punishment isn't a deterrent if you don't take away the natty. They would gladly do it all over again if they get to keep it.

....And I still think they were cheating after they were caught. The data was already there. I doubt Hairball suddenly found a conscious and stopped. Even if they did stop, they cheated in that same season. The natty has to go.

They cheated during the year they won the natty. If they take away a single game from that season, they essentially take away the title as well. It's up to the B1G to strip them of B1G championships, and it's up to the CFP to strip the CFP title.....but you don't get to play for the B1G title if you're found to have cheated in a B1G game (they did), and you don't get to play in the CFP if you didn't win your conference title.

When you're caught illegally making files (either physical or virtual) of material that gives you a big edge over your competition, and you want to ditch it so you aren't caught with the evidence, you don't just ditch it without making copies or other backups. They still had the information. Using it is still cheating.

Nobody outside of the Ministry of Excuses has said they're not taking away the NC*. Whether they were actively cheating during the end of the season is immaterial given that they were earlier in the season and those games had a direct impact on how they got there. I think they take it, but who the hell knows.
