2025 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments, etc.

That 97 team ought to be happy the clock operator in Pasadena ran 3 seconds off the clock.

And it sure as shit doesn't take 2 seconds to spike the ball.
@Ramzy why doesn't anyone ever talk about this?

Lol it should have been more like 4 or 5 they ran a while after he was down. Now if they started on time was a question but it definitley ran too long

Assuming the clock on the TV is official, it definitely doesn't start on time, but it goes from 9 seconds to 7 seconds. Maybe that caught it up? I'd have to compare to a stopwatch or something and that's more work that I'm going to do. But it appears to me that the clock didn't run correctly.

He seems to be down at 4 seconds, but they run an additional second off the clock. I can see that being the clock operator's reaction time.

Then, another second comes off the clock, down to 2. Again, maybe that's catching the TV clock up to the official clock?

The spike definitely hits the ground with 1 second on the TV clock.

I think Washington State got hosed. Like BKB said, there's no guarantee that they score from the 36, but they deserved a chance.

They claim the split title with a player that should have been ineligible and they win a title when they should not have been eligible due to cheating. That should tell you everything you need to know about that program and school.
You forgot about the part where, despite not cheating, Ohio State's championship is tainted because, under last year's system, Ohio State wouldn't have even been in the playoffs. As if 2024's system has any relevance to 2025's championship. "Hey George Washington wasn't a real president because under the old system of government, England's King George III would still be king!"

The 1989 tsun basketball national championship team finished 3rd in the conference.

Just sayin

You don't have to convince me - you play by the rules to win whatever you can. Didn't the #11 Big Ten team get to the conference championship game one year in basketball? If they had won, is that championship tainted? Not in my opinion.

depends

Did they cheat their fucking asses off in this hypothetical scenario? If so, then yeah it's a tainted title.

If not, whining about a team winning a post season tournament that is the agreed upon method of crowning a champion and then being recognized as the champion, is one of the dumbest fucking things I can imagine a person trying to argue a case for.

(and I know I'm not actually saying this to you)

Not that I know of. It may not have even happened, but to my knowledge, no one claimed that they did anything against any rules.

By the way, I just found out that the cheaters in 2017 are the lowest seed to ever win the championship, with a #8 seed. Under any format prior to the conference tournament, they wouldn't have received the automatic bid to the NCAA. I'll let other basketball nerds decide if a 10-8 / 26-12 record would have gotten them into the tournament, as an at-large.
Oddly enough, they only played Ohio State once that season, and Ohio State won. Is their Big Ten Tournament championship tainted?

To be fair to tCun, I’ll list all of the other Natties they can claim since the Coaches Poll started in 1950:

/ end of list
