2025 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments, etc.

Yeah, that's the part a lot of people miss with "tatgate". When the story first came out the NCAA issued the suspensions for the players and was done with it.Most people still supported Tress because what they did really wasn't THAT serious, other players at other schools had done the same thing and received similar penalties ( see Gurley, Todd/Georgia) and most people believed that Tressel didn't know about it in advance. It was the following Spring when shit hit the fan and the emails from Chris Cicero were discovered that many fans agreed it was time for Tressel to go.
Tressel didn’t erase those emails. If he had, that investigation never happens…contrast that with TCUN

Tressel couldn't have erased them. He could have tried, but they stayed on the server, which is where the grad student accessed them. Now, Smith and Gee could have buried it, paid off the grad student and went full Ono on the NCAA. Maybe it would have worked, but if it didn't the program gets nuked, Urban probably doesn't come and 2014 definitely doesn't happen.

And they got discovered because of a FOIA request wanting to see what was exchanged about Big Ten expansion between Tom Osborne and Tressel. So it was all the Huskers’ fault.

Beat Nebraska!

I may need to hear from a Pedster fan to see if I’m doing that right.

You could add obfuscation to the deflection by adding the “FBI-operative” in there somewhere.

So maybe I'm crazy. After over a decade of listening to this man and everyone he interacts with i have come to the personal conclusion that Tress lied to the NCAA. You will never convince me that the man who still calls his old players to wish their mother a happy birthday did it for personal gain and glory. If his personality is a charade, it's the longest, best con of all time. And the only real gain he achieved was making people believe he was a decent person.

Which is easily refuted by the fact that if Tressel had been deputized as some kind of Agent Orange, double-naught spy, the FBI office in Cincy would have--after yahoo went public with everything--informed the university and ncaa of his role, and he'd have been a hero.

He's still an asset, still under cover.
