2025 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments, Arrogant Twatwaffles, Emasculated Cucks, Feckless Marmots, Dirty Cheaters "Mid"chigan

Whittingham seems like a solid guy. Where they may have issues is recruiting. He is a west coast centric guy. He has done more with less, but that cuts both ways. He won't have respect from the high school coaches in the south, which is a necessity. From what can be told, he doesn't seem like a Cignetti, who can find diamonds in the rough.

They will absolutely have to spend on position coaches and coordinators to make up for any deficits.

My guess is they asked him whether he will accept Alford and Wink to maintain their better recruits they do have.

He is also probably thinking that he is 66 years old, a bag that eclipses Utah is not a bad thing.

I think Wittingham would be signaling a 4-5 year window where an outside caretaker of good reputation just oversees a clean up.

On field results won’t be the focus. The institution needs to get things back to where there are no more inconvenient incidents countering their virtue narrative.

I also don’t think the DFBIA understands that.

Whittingham doesn't concern me. He's 66 years old, has been at Utah for 32 years, has never sniffed the bcs/cfp and will be a continuance of Simple Jim's neanderball.

Their logic is the of course flawed logic of "this coach has done well at a lesser program without great resources so that automatically would make them an elite coach at Michigan!"

Oh they want on field results for sure. Judging from the last 5 years, cleaning up doesn't seem a priority. Heck, if they were not forced to fire Moore, it would have been business as usual. They expect to win.

I know and now, if they are presenting this candidate to the actual BOT, (unlike last time) then the that means (at least to me) the adults are in control and those adults are going to have different goals than the dfbia.

Wittingham is not a pure on the field football hire. He doesn't suck but he's there to "stabilize" the program, not wade back into the deep end.

IMO

I have seen zero evidence that the BOT actually desires to clean up the program. They are as myopic as the fan base, and as incapable of feeling actual embarrassment over what the program is. Anything they do will just pay lip service to the media and tiny minority of fans who want to clean up the program. I hope Wittingham realizes that if he takes that job, the cheater stench will ruin his legacy.

Also three to stop the off-field constant flood of scandal. While the dfbia thinks it was all one big witch hunt to get Simple Jim, I think the adults know better and aren't happy with reputation hit the institution has taken. With Ono gone, I think they are letting their voices be heard.

And how much does the appointment of a new president play in to this? Right now they are still operating with an interim Pres.

This is the best possibly hire they could make!

Hate to say it, but Wittingham is the perfect hire for UM.

He has been very successful with limited resources and is squeaky clean. Allows UM to make the argument that they have instantly cleaned up the program. Wouldn't be surprised if he does well in the portal provided the NIL money continues to flow.
This.

Optics will play a HUGE part in this situation.
