2025 College Football Playoffs Discussion (12 Team Format)

Umm. What does that say about the Buckeyes?
Guess we’ll see as the playoffs unfold, but no one can convince me that our defense wasn’t the best in the nation. Should have beaten IU if our offense didn’t shoot itself in the foot over and over again. Same thing against Miami. True freshman QB and a struggling Oline will do that.

They kept an IU team in check that just demolished Alabama, so… we’ll see how Miami responds the rest of the way.

One thing I can say, and they can deny this all they want: they’ve had a bone to pick with Ohio State as a program for a LONG time. I’m sure our guys jawing before the game absolutely fueled that hatred even more. The other night they showed up in full force to quiet those demons a bit and try to earn back some pride.

Regardless, fuck ‘em.

RS freshman but yes. Also Miami talks like a little time program god I have never heard so many people beg players on the other team to come home and transfer to them or be jilted they didn't sign up for the home team.

REF JAIL INMATE OF THE WEEK

While it may have been technically correct, I don't think any of us needed the Sugar Bowl to include a final second that felt like half an hour. To recap:
  • Ole Miss kicked the game-winning field goal with 6 seconds left on the clock.
  • The Rebels kicked off, which ended with an attempted lateral by Georgia hitting the end zone pylon for a safety
  • The officials ruled there was 1 second on the clock when that happened, forcing Georgia to attempt a free kick following the safety
  • Georgia recovered an onside kick.
  • Because Ole Miss never touched the ball on the free kick, the clock never ran. A second remained on the clock.
  • This gave Georgia one more offensive play down 39-34.
  • Instead of attempting a Hail Mary, the Bulldogs opted for a short pass and about 800 laterals before Ole Miss got the stop.
Again, most of this is not the fault of the refs in a technical sense, but I think we all would have been better off if none of it ever happened.

There never should have been an onside kick.

The clock only ran 3 seconds for a 47-yard FG, and then the clock started late on the kickoff return. Those two plays took about 10 seconds, rather than the 8 that ran off the clock.

The clock shouldn't have run on the "kick return" there was no kick return, Georgia jumped on the ball while Ole Miss stood around with their thumbs up their butts. As the announcers pointed out during and after the kick, all they had to do was bat it out of bounds, or literally anything to get the clock started. Letting Georgia get a free recovery was the only result that didn't end with the final second ticking off.
