Another cog in all this, and something I'm hoping to drill down on in the coming weeks, is the custody of the portable hard drive and play sheet referenced in the draft (and almost certainly final) NOA:
"Stalions removed hard drives from Michigan football offices, and gave a football player a sheet containing playcalling signals of a future opponent to be retrieved later."
Some reporting on this stated that he gave both the drives and the play sheet to a player, but the NOA seems to specifically state he removed hard drives, and also gave a play call sheet to a player for him to retrieve later. This happened on Friday, October 20th.
We've had some assumptions out there on where these items ended up, but there's no clear answer.
The play call sheet could be pivotal, as it would prove at least some aspects of the impermissible scheme continued after Stalions departed.

The hard drives, to me, are huge. And I don't know for sure where they are.

Convince me that Stalions, or some other "low-level staffer" (like Stalions supposedly was prior to this shit hitting the fan), doesn't have the hard drives. It'd be easy enough to make some copies and upload somewhere that other coaches can access.

Ken - not us - reported that UM's legal team proposed a negotiated settlement with the NCAA that vacated the 2021 and 2022 seasons and B1G championships, included a multi-year bowl ban, and other institutional and individual punishments, but left 2023 and the championship* intact.

I've not been able to corroborate Ken's reporting last night. None of my folks are refuting it, either.

I'll flag this next bit as speculation informed by talking to my folks last night and this morning - not direct sourcing - so when it gets shared around I'm not burned.

I get the impression the desire to reach a negotiated agreement within UM's brass is now a majority opinion, and this explains reports of them seemingly and suddenly willing to accept much more of the framework than their previous "fight fight fight" stance. I'd #BET that 2023 is probably the hang-up.

It's clear to me that they'd prefer this season be included in the postseason ban that is surely coming, but they're not yet ready to flush their championship* season. And so they're still stuck, just in a much closer to position to the NCAA's framework.

If this gets resolved before the COI hearing happens, it will be about who blinks first.

So far, the enforcement team hasn't appeared to give an inch.

Just sayin': It appears like scUM is trying to negotiate a settlement that allows them to keep the 2023 Natty, etc.: however, the NCAA is holding fast.

They better not get to keep 2023, considering they cheated half the season.

Cheated half the season, before being caught.... THEN obfuscated, misdirected, denied knowledge, acted indignant, threatened lawsuits, THEN accepted "punishment" (despite it being a nothingburger- according to them), THEN proceeded to continue to play well beyond recent historical norms for the program & coach, THEN thumping their chests despite no indication of contrition and despite no proof that their scheme ever was snuffed out.

Even if *ichigan gets to keep it's "championship", the whole world knows they are dirty cheaters and also that they suck. Fuck em.

None of the NCAA's corporate sponsors or their partners in the media are going to want to admit that a whole ass championship in a sport that they promote was completely compromised, even though them vacating 2021 & 2022 basically admits that anyway, i'd bet there are a lot of $$$ forces outside of scUM at play here not wanting the NCAA to strip the 2023 season as well. Is it wrong? fuck yes it is, but sadly it's how it is.
