DoneGet that Tennessee game thread ready. Going about as expected.
Can’t wait for James Franklin to lose the first home playoff game in this era. Sorry but it is/was always going to be written this way. Destiny for that loser.
Ya think? 2 teams that belong nowhere near a real playoffTexas has to be satisfied with that path
So here’s what I had last night. Does it look familiar? So I’ve got :
01 Oregon
02 Georgia
03 Boise St
04 Arizona St (don’t think they’ll jump Boise)
05 Texas hosting
12 Clemson (lowest of 5 highest conf champs)
06 Penn St hosting
11 Bama or SMU (name vs deserving)
07 Notre Dame hosting (think with NIU loss they stay behind CCG losers)
10 Indiana
08 Ohio St hosting
09 Tennessee
#1 then plays 8-9 winner
#4 then plays 5-12 winner
#2 then plays 7-10 winner
#3 then plays 6-11 winner
It’s the long game for both ESPN and the committee. Now for the next 25 years, when a questionable team like 9-3 Texas A&M or the year the SEC gets 7 teams in, they can say “but in 2024 the B1G got more teams than the SEC and Alabama got left out! And that was the very first year!”Well color me surprised that they kept SMU in over Bama
What can people say, when you’ve been watching this sport for over 100 years, you tend to start seeing trends I guessSo here’s what I had last night. Does it look familiar?
I may not agree with the 12 team but I am happy they finally kicked Bama out. If this is how it goes every year quibble with the last team or two and some seeding it's going wellThey wanted to give Texas the #5 spot, so they kept them above ND, I’m fine with that.
They used the same logic to keep Penn St ahead of ND, preventing the tOSU-Pedster head-to-head from mattering..
They then applied the same “don’t penalize the CCG loser” logic to leave SMU above Bama. That I was very happy with, and it was the biggest question they had to answer.
Lots of folks will bitch, I’m fine with what they did, and we don’t need to go to 16 Teams.
