2024 College Football Playoffs Discussion (12 Team Format)

I saw Warde’s comments and recognize he’s stating that teams not playing this weekend are essentially “locked in”.

But if Oregon were to finger blast PSU, and say, Marshall wins their conference championship game and gets ranked in top 25, how do you place PSU above OSU when OSU also has the head to head match-up???

Like, it’d be next level stupid to try and place PSU as a higher seed over OSU.

And to be frank….I don’t really give AF. I’m still stuck on the loss to Michigan.

But, rationality and all that….

That's likely not what he meant. What he meant is South Carolina isn't going to Jump Bama, Tennesee isn't going to Jump Ohio State etc. Only the teams playing can move about.

Drawing a rematch with Indiana in the 1st round would be by far the best case scenario. I don't think they are gonna let that rematch happen though,
We beat Wisconsin I think 38-7 in 2019 and then were losing at the half a few weeks later to that same team.

With how we punched one in at the end and all the “google it” comments etc after I think that Indiana game would be much different than last time. I think Indiana would be ready for the blitz and if we don’t get special teams help it could go the wrong way.

IMO I don’t want Indiana again. It’s hard to beat a team twice.

Right.

If Oregon crushes Penn State and I think they will. Also if Texas beats UGA I can for sure see a scenario where we jump both.

We will have beat Penn State head to head and UGA will have 3 losses then.

So not out of this realm that we move to 6.

I'd rather stay away from the 6 because we'd likely draw Bama at that point. I don't think Bama is particularly great but you know we'd get Milroe Georgia & LSU version who runs all over.

Give me Alabama if SMU wins and is who we’d get after.

They aren’t what they were on defense and their offense is pretty damn gross as long as you don’t let Milroe get loose.

Going through Tennessee and then Oregon would be rough.

Does anyone know how much the teams making the CFP earn for their game(s)? And how it is split within their respective conferences?

The money goes to the conferences, the B1G splits equally, I’m not sure about the others. I think ND can keep it all for themselves.

How much does a team get for making the College Football Playoff in 2024-2025?

With the new 12-team playoff comes a new revenue distribution model. For 2024-2025, here’s how much each team will make in the College Football Playoff:

  • $4 million for each of the 12 teams that makes the College Football Playoff
  • $4 million for each of the 8 teams that makes the College Football Playoff Quarterfinals
  • $6 million for each of the 4 teams that makes the College Football Playoff Semifinals
  • $6 million for each of the 2 teams that makes the College Football Playoff National Championship Game
Additionally, each team who participates in the College Football Playoff receives $3 million to cover expenses for each round.

Additionally, each conference receives $300,000 for each of its schools whose football team meets the NCAA’s APR for participation in a postseason football game. Each independent institution also receives $300,000 if its football team meets the same standard.

If Bama and Miami had swapped resumes do you really think it would even be a discussion if it was Bama or Miami getting in?

I hate having to defend Cryami here but this is clearly a name on the jersey/ratings money thing.
