Worse can't coach in the NFL for 1 year not for the duration of the contract? what? He'll sign the contract if he wanted to coach for them next year that makes no difference

I'd assume there would be an extremely prohibitive buyout for that first year...like the entire term of the contract so that no NFL team would entertain paying 125M up front and on top of his contract just to get Simple Jim. Although tcun are so fucking wrapped up in their self-delusions and Ono is such a jock-sniffing little cunt, it really wouldn't surprise me if they just took Simple Jim's word for it.

I'm beginning to wonder where colleges are getting this kind of jack to pay coaches AND players, especially since it seems to be adding up to more than the NFL owners have to play with. The TV numbers show a significant advantage to the NFL with fewer teams to share income.

Well, schools aren't directly paying players yet. That's still a third party responsibility. NFL teams have to give 48% of revenue to the players.
