Since this is no punishment at all and the B1G is closing their investigation, they won't actually punished this year. Rittenberg is speculating this must imply the NCAA now has evidence that is real bad for Hairball.
In my view, NCAA can take their time to make the punishment count as soon as they have their best case ready to go. I want to beat their ass in roughly a week from now as Hairball watches from the couch, then the NCAA can go to town on them. I would be shocked if this is truly the extent of the punishment, though TCUN fans are acting like the death penalty was issued. If we didn't control our own fate in that game and know much more could be coming, I would be more upset. Plus this doesn't foreclose future B1G action unless a private settlement agrees to that, which I would be shocked by.
Just Barksdale.
Still a lock, right?

This is the part I was harping on because it seemed super ill-advised to file this suit with that possibility. I'm not sure if TCUN filed any affidaivts, but that alone opens up any affiant to be called on the stand (within the scope of what they testified to by affidavit unless opened further by TCUN). And without affidavits from any person that could be held accountable, what evidence can you get into the record for the judge's consideration? Someone said it already, but I suspect TCUN/Ono finally got some decent legal advice in calling this off.
Important to note that if the NCAA finds and shares incriminating evidence with the BIG regarding its football program the BIG could still level penalties against the cheaters up north.
Exactly why I am satisfied for now. I don't think anyone could have reasonably expected the B1G to go further than what they did for the time being. If they would have tried to cancel the rest of their season/impose post-season bans before they have enough admissible evidence to go that far, they could have been challenged and possibly lose...I think the TRO happens if they tried to do that and you have a much more roll of the dice scenario there that the conference doesn't want.
