I’m not the one breaking the paywall here, so what the hell (from the 11W forum):

Chris Balas:

The Michigan administration met with the Big Ten Friday prepared to fight for head coach Jim Harbaugh and his staff, having taken him at his word that he had no knowledge of analyst Connor Stalions' actions involving illegal on-site scouting leading to sign stealing. They were even moving forward on a contract extension for the coach that would have made him the highest paid in the conference.

Sources tell us the Big Ten presented Michigan with "overwhelming evidence" of "a plot so extensive" that, in the words of one at the meeting, "someone should have known." The U-M administration met for some time to discuss the options going forward. As of now, Harbaugh is expected to coach against Purdue tomorrow. But more evidence has continued to mount that would, at the very least, put the extension in doubt.

We'll continue to provide updates as we get them
Chris Balas followed up by saying, “it’s not good.”

He’s literally giving them hints that Harbaugh is done.

One of their posters said, “this isn’t enough new evidence to turn the ship around.”

Balas replied, “yes, it is.”

A Michigan poster said, “the current evidence doesn’t show an extensive plot.”

Balas replied, “they would beg to differ.”

“Where did they get the evidence from?”

Balas: they weren’t at liberty to share

“What was the evidence?”

Balas: I don’t know

“If your sources are wrong will you own it?”

Balas: I would but they aren’t.

I don't understand how they were completely unaware what the evidence would be. To fight like they did, one would think they knew what was out there.

There definitely was a lack of organizational control going on.

Exactly.

Them taking Jimbo at his word is the equivalent of my division of a company being under IRS audit and SEC investigation, my boss asking me if I did anything wrong, me saying no, and him not verifying a word I said and telling the feds to suck his dick.
