One saving grace Mich has is the money. They are a massive brand, unfortunately. And their resurgence has probably helped line the coffers during TV negotiations. I think it’s some fan fiction to think anyone is getting nuked in today’s day. As much as I want to believe and feel it is just.

That said, the BIG just expanded to include some other big brands so Mich may be a little more expendable.

They won't get the death penalty, but some trophies need returned, coaches fired, and scholarships lost. There has to be a deterrent.

Michigan does have the money but I feel like the B1G has to do something here (if the NCAA waivers), do they really want to majorly piss of the whole rest of the conference?

The B1G already took it upon themselves to go out of the way to warn the whole conference about all of this before the big frenzy started, which is pretty unprecedented, doesn't sound like the actions of a organization that's just going to sit and do nothing.

Also they can't be too happy that their champion the past few years is now tainted in a massive cheating scandal.

I keep going back and forth in my head along these lines.

One side says they aren't nuking a cash cow/cutting off their nose to spite their face

On the other hand...several other big brands got fucked and this is out there now. You can't just burn the tapes a la the NFL and Patriots spygate.

Also, those new brands might be asking "is this what I can expect if tsun decides to fuck me over when we get there? You do nothing?"

It's going to be interesting because it is unprecedented

The NCAA is going to piss a lot of people off too if they decide to go with a slap on the wrist approach on this one. Also think about the bad precedent that would be setting, basically sets up total cheating anarchy, who cares if you get caught, you'll only lose a few scholarships and maybe get a few coaches suspended a few games. That's what they set if they go weak on scUM here.

The NCAA is desperate to show they are still a relevant governing power too, this is the perfect chance for them to flex those nuts.

Until the heavy betters that got hammered in Vegas start with the lawsuits... but they do have $18B endowment
