2023-2024 College Basketball General Discussion

That makes 6 #1 seeds that have lost already. App State beat Auburn this year so we know they could have had a shot at an upset in the Big Dance.
They just beat that same Arkansas State team by 23 just last week go figure.

I was really looking forward to an App State vs James Madison final tomorrow.

The heavy reliance on the NET rankings is irritating to me. Of course, I say this as a fan of a team the NET is being used to exclude from the tourney on the basis of a fired coach's work. Far be it from people to open their eyes and consider reasons a team might have variance in their performance, when the NET is right there to give you a ranking to hide behind.

I'm not sure why Villanova is still "in" at 17-14. Yes, they have some great wins, but they will have 15 losses if they don't win the conference tournament. I can't think of a single team to make the dance as an at-large with 15 losses on Selection Sunday.

Nova getting in with 15 losses legit might be the biggest joke inclusion of all time.

They seem to really be pushing those wins over UNC and Creighton. But do 2 wins really make putting a 15 loss team in over other teams justifiable? 3 of those losses were to Penn, Drexel and St Joes too.

There's so much parity that there are no great teams nor great wins. Everyone is mediocre or slightly above mediocre.

Colorado State, one of the MWC teams bracketologists (ESPN has them comfortably in as a 9 seed) have in, is currently tied with 9-22 San Jose State with 11 minutes to play in the 2nd half in their opening game of the MWC Tourney.

Oklahoma had better be out. The only reason they're even close to the bubble is the power rankings of the Big 12. The Sooners went 8-10 in the Big 12, lost in the first round of the conference tourney to finish 20-12, and had only 2 marquee wins all season (Iowa St & BYU). Their best nonconference wins were against Bubble teams. If this profile doesn't scream "NIT" to you, you're doing it wrong.

Never thought I'd see the day that a 10-8 MWC team would be considered let alone ranked. Just shows you how mediocre college basketball has become

I think parity is a good thing for basketball generally but weve hit a situation where there’s too much parity. Guess you have to pick your posion. You either get these meh MWC teams who’s status is based solely off piggy backing off eachother or you get meh 13-14-15 loss power conference teams

Two mid majors in the final four last year. The best players stay 1-2 years top, the transfers... it's just not the same. Way back in the day I would take of work to watch the first two rounds, now I barely take a peek
