I'm leaning towards there being some truth to it. There were some "hush, hush" references to it When they were discussing who might replace Hairball if he left ( so a week ago) and in lurking around the PSU boards, there are rumblings about some "indiscretions" when he was there, although with Co-Eds, not recruit's moms.
Which is A. It clearly wasn't big enough of an issue for them to fire him over or he would have gone when it was or at minimum right after the season ended.

This is what it is. A reach hire after the coaching cycle has pretty much ended in a attempt to save some continuity. Anyone who dare claim this guy is some desired candidate is kidding themselves. Theres a reason no P5 programs besides Vanderbilt have ever grabbed him.

Minter is more or less Macdonald, IE a longtime Baltimore Ravens assistant who relies on modern analytics, except instead of no coordinating experience, Minter has more of it than almost anyone his age, and was in charge of an SEC defense last year.

Vanderbilt Defense - 2021

457.7 YPG (#118) - 35.58 PPG (#119) - 9 Sacks (tied for #129) - 41 TFLS (tied for 118)

Rashan Gary, 2X Academic All-American, 9 on the Wonderlic. Intelligence not needed for 3.0+ GPA.
No, not even close to the truth.

Gary twice made Academic All Big Ten, quite a different thing. To make Academic All Big Ten, you need to be in your second year and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. Not exactly difficult, especially if you're a General Studies major (like Wonderlic Gary).

Academic All American IS a big deal, however, and it's very hard to make the team, especially because players are (literally) competing with Ivy Leaguers.

Ohio State has had 54 Academic All Americans in football, 31 on the first team, 23 on the second team.

The Harvard of the West has had only 35 Academic All Americans, 18 on the first team, 17 on the second team.

For Michigan, Aidan Hutchinson made first team in 2021, and David Ojabo made 2nd team. Prior to that, their last Academic All American was Zoltan Mesko (1st team) in 2009.

Since 2009, Ohio State has had four first teamers (Jordan Fuller in 2018; Sam Hubbard in 2016; and both Jacoby Boren and Jack Willoughby in 2015), and three second teamers. Kinda blows Michigan Man's academic arguments out of the water.
