Watching them go from giddy to “wtf” over the course of the thread regarding the Rose Bowl is a worthy read.

A down year for tOSU is 11-2 with a Rose Bowl win and promise of an even better season the next.

Down years they’ve had are inconceivable in Columbus. Hell, their once a generation “great year” is a “meh” for us.

Order will be restored in 11 months.

I like the fact that on January 1st, Buckeye fans are happier than TTUN fans.

They'll get what's coming to them in 329 days.

Yep. Their “miracle” season ended with a kerplunk. While it wasn’t pretty, tOSU wins the granddaddy of them all, flexing on offense minus their #1 and #2 WRs while smashing records. While the D wasn’t pretty all game, they bowed up a bit in the 2nd half, enough to let the O do their thing without wasting the effort. And we have one of the most well regarded DCs in the country coming in to right the ship. Reality is a bitch.

I still don't feel any better about that ass whooping we took in Ann Arbor. There isn't a damn thing we can brag or hang our hats on when it compares to them, until we beat them on the field. They lost in the CFP, but still have a 2021 B1G trophy and bragging rights for an entire year, just being honest

Time heals all wounds. Six weeks later, our most recent game is a thrilling Rose Bowl win, theirs is a humiliating loss. They have (temporary) head-to-head bragging rights, but the big picture points to things returning to normal next season. They absolutely should enjoy their season, but history indicates it was an anomaly. Even Auburn has beat bammer a couple of times the past 10-12 years, but their euphoria never lasted long.

Did Ohio State's mediocre defense (45 points, 463 total yards), with half its starters missing, really play that much worse than scUM's elite defense (34 points, 521 total yards) with Heisman runner-up Bosa 3.0?

I know that we like to bitch a lot about our defensive woes, but at least we have the offensive firepower to overcome an average defense. scUM, on the other hand, has the vaunted pop-gun offense, so if their defense gets exposed as the fraud that it is, they get blown out 34-11.

(As a side note, Utah entered the Rose Bowl with the #10 total defense in the country, giving up 315.4 yards per game and 4.85 yards per play. Ohio State laid 682 yards, 10.2 per play, on the Utes.).

Oh I agree on your points! But I still wouldn't get too confident about next season until we get that W. It could be an anamoly, but the Cooper years aren't far from my memory and I'd never want to take Hairball for granted and using his underdog mentality for his team for another win. As good as the Rose bowl win was, The Game loss still stings because of HOW we lost.

Their performance was considerably worse. We expected our defense to stink up the joint. They relied on theirs to carry them all season and hoped they would be able to neutralize a less than explosive UGA offense. It didn’t.

scUM’s vaunted D was a result of their two edge rushers having surprisingly exceptional seasons. It started and ended with them. The rest of their D is mediocre, at best. UGA neutralized those edge rushers and all of their weaknesses were brutally exposed.

Guess what? Next season, both of those guys are likely gone and I don’t see anybody on their roster with similar skill. It’ll be back to normal next year.
